A ring's size is determined by its diameter or circumference and is measured in inches or millimeters. The diameter measures the inside length of the ring, whereas the circumference measures the length of the entire band.
The sizes are in millimeters and correspond directly to the outer circumference of the ring stick to the inner circumference of the finger gauge.
Use the ruler to centimeter side of the ruler to measure from the end of the of the tape (or string) to the mark you made with your marker. This number will give you your ring size in centimeters!
Wrap string or paper around the base of your finger. Mark the point where the ends meet with a pen. Measure the string or paper with a ruler (mm) then divide by 3.14 (or Pi) to get the diameter of the ring. Pick the closest measurement on the ring size chart to find your ring size.
Size 5.5 = 16.0 mm. Size 6 = 16.45 mm. Size 6.5 = 16.9 mm.
Measure the circumference of your finger and mark the string. Then measure the string length against a ruler or tape measure in mm. This measurement corresponds to the size of the ring.
Those units match your finger's width in millimeters: A ring size 3 fits a ring finger (or any finger) that is 14 millimeters across, and the sizes climb from there. Standard ring sizes go up by 0.4 millimeters every half-size. For instance, a size 3 ring is 14 mm, a size 3.5 ring is 14.4 mm, and a size 4 is 14.8mm.
Simply put one of your partner's rings on your finger and remember (or mark) where it stops. A jeweler can measure that part of your finger and get a good estimate of the size of that ring. Each finger is typically a different size, so make sure to use a ring that your partner actually wears on the ring finger.
The average women's ring size is 6 and the average men's ring size is 8½ Guessing your partner's ring size correctly can be done with a little common sense. If you have a petite partner, it's likely that their hands are smaller with slender fingers, so try starting at a size 4 or 4½ for women, and around a 7 for men.
You can easily determine your own ring size with a measuring tape or a cord. To measure simply place the cord (or the measuring tape) around the finger where you want to put the ring. The ends of the cord should be marked. Use a ruler to measure the cord and determine your ring size in mm.
For women the most common ring size in Australia is an N or O. For men it is a T or U. These are the equivalent of a US 7 for women and a US 10 for men. Before you can actually make use of your knowledge of Australian ring sizes you will need to know how to measure your ring size.
For women in the US, the average size is 6.5. This is comparable to size M in the UK. Interestingly, the average US size for women falls slightly larger than in the UK. We work off the correct engagement and wedding ring finger for these measurements.
The average ring size for women is Size 7. The average ring size for men is Size 10. We are often asked what is an average or "normal" ring size for a man or woman.
Size 7 is the most common ring size for women. However, if you're a petite woman with small hands, your ring size is probably going to be smaller than a size 7. If you're not a petite woman with small hands than it is safe to say that your ring size will probably be larger than a size 7.
