An XXL is a Misses 18. A 1X is a plus size 14/16. The difference is that plus size clothing is generally made wider and with more room in the arms, hips, thighs, butt, and stomach areas. So the measurements may be similar.
The range for XXL size is between 18-20. Hence, it is a plus-size.
2XL is women's double large or extra-large, which translates roughly to woman's sizes 18–20.

An XXL shirt is one size larger than an XL which is one size larger than a Large. The cut of the garment is the same it's just done "on a larger scale" no pun intended. A 2XL garment is cut differently. In fact, it's half a size bigger than an XXL.

They also sell them as big and tall and the sizes for Big are 1X and 2X, 3X, etc. An XXL and a 2X are not the same, even though the size charts are identical. A 2X Big is cut larger, especially in the mid section. I order both the XXL and the 2X, the 2X is substantially larger around the midsection.
