Viewers were shocked too, because the character everyone thought was just a sweet old man was actually an evil game-master responsible for so many deaths. The clues were there if you looked, however, though some were very sneaky.
He is the leader of the Masked Men and the enigmatic overseer of the Squid Game. It is eventually revealed he is the brother of the detective Hwang Jun-ho. In-ho was invited to compete in Oh Il-nam's survival competition in 2015 and ultimately won. Later, he went on to become Il-nam's right-hand man, the Front Man.
Il-nam introduces himself as an innocent old man with a deadly brain tumor, and he and Gi-hun quickly strike up a friendship. That friendship is flipped on its head, however, when it's revealed that the old man was actually the Squid Game founder all along.
Right after he cries out, the riots are quickly ended by the front man, who senses that Il-nam is actually scared and obeys him.
He, with the help of other wealthy elite, set up the Squid Games decades ago. 001 set up the games because he and many of his rich friends were bored, no longer able to enjoy life as their wealth made their days too easy.
Il-nam's wide smile throughout the different death games the players are forced to play is reflective of his outlook on life, as he explained to Gi-hun.
The reveal that Squid Game's player 001 was actually the founder of the brutal games retrospectively cleared up some of the character's past actions, including allowing Gi-hun to cheat during the marble game.
456, Seong Gi-hun ended up opting for red hair. In an interview with Zapzee he explained, “I imagined being him and thought to myself, 'What is the colour that you would never choose to dye your hair?
Like any organization, Squid Game has a mastermind behind it. That title belongs to Oh Il-nam, or 001, who does not wear a mask but “masks” his true nature by posing as a willing participant in the games.
Oh ll-Nam is a mysterious character who had gained the audience's pity, as his condition was pathetic, but in Climax, it is revealed that he has a triad of Psychopathy. He was one of the masterminds behind all the events.
Type of Villain
Ika Musume (Japanese: イカ娘), also known as Squid Girl in the English version is the main protagonist in Shinryaku!
We saw her get hit by a flying shard of glass when the bridge exploded and she lost a lot of blood. Player 456 (Gi-hun) ran to the guards asking them to help his dying friend then player 218 (Sang-woo) brutally stabbed 067 in the neck and secured his spot as one of the two finalists in Squid Game.
The henchmen with Triangle shapes on their masks are the second tier of the henchmen that kill or take swift action when needed. The men with the triangle execute tasks hence they form the executive class among the henchmen.
The Masked Men, also called Staff or Pink Soldiers, are a shadowy organization of figures who serve as the central antagonists of the first season of the South Korean Netflix series Squid Game. They are responsible for overseeing the game, and wear pink hoods and featureless black masks to conceal their identities.
456 His Jacket. Before the Marbles game round, Gi-hun gave his jacket to the old man to cover his trousers after Gi-hun noticed Il-nam had wet himself while sleeping. Later, the old man hands Gi-hun his own jacket, saying the other players "will look down on him" if he doesn't have a jacket.
Il-nam, who was played number 001, also gave Gi-hun, who was player 456, his jacket to wear for the marble task before Gi-hun chose him to be his partner (Gi-hun had given his to him previously after Il-nam had an accident).
So I chose the color and I thought it really showed his inner anger.” So it's a radical, symbolic move. Gi-Hun is angry and the red is designed to channel and reflect that inner rage out.
The way these Easter eggs occur at the same time suggests a close connection between the fact that Il-nam is the Squid Game founder and that Gi-hun is his son.
Korean actress Hoyeon Jung, 27, was revealed as Vogue's February cover star. Jung rose to international fame for her portrayal of Player 67 Kang Sae-byeok in the Netflix series “Squid Game.”

During an appearance on the South Korean TV show How Do I Play, the 77-year-old actor said he feels as though he's “floating on air” after the success of the dystopian thriller series.
Thanks to TikToker @ruthbellpan who caught the old man cheating from the very first game 'Red Light, Green Light', while every player was scanned for movement, the old man was completely missed.
The Squid Game ending explained
Seong Gi-hun wins, and he learns who's really running the game (you may have figured it out since we don't see this character die in the game, but it's such a juicy plot twist that I won't reveal it here).
Player 067, Kang Sae-byeok (Jung Ho-yeon) - Episode 8, "Front Man" Another of Squid Game's most tragic deaths, Sae-byeok meets her end in the penultimate episode of the season.
