Uncle Tobys has been processing oats since 1893 and we only source our Oats from local farmers in Australia. Most of our Oats come from within 250km of the Uncle Tobys factory in Wahgunyah by the banks of the the Murray river.

Following the gold rush in Australia, two brothers Leonard and George Parsons left England and started manufacturing John Bull Oats in Melbourne. In 1861 the Uncle Tobys Company was born, originally under the name of Parsons Bros.

At present oats cannot be labelled as 'gluten free' in Australia. The Australian food standard differs to the regulations in Europe and the USA, where oats can be marketed as 'gluten free'. In those countries, oats avenin is not considered to be a form of gluten.
