Venom has endured as one of Spider-Man's most prominent villains, and was initially regarded as one of his three archenemies, alongside the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus.
Type of Hero
Venom is an anti-hero in the Spider-Man franchise. He is one of Spider-Man's archenemies later turned rival.
Anti-Venom is a fictional antihero appearing in Comic books published by Marvel Comics.
Shortly after, the Gargan version of Venom stumbled across Eddie and the symbiote attempted to bond with Brock again. The leftover symbiote inside Eddie rejected Venom and transformed him to become a stronger force for good.
So it might come as a surprise to learn that the symbiote is not inherently evil, and may have never become a threat to anyone had it bonded with better hosts. More surprisingly, when the symbiote is given a chance to revert to its natural state, it actually reveals itself to be benevolent – even noble!
Since his debut however, Venom has evolved into an antiheroic figure, slowly distancing himself from his initial goal to ruin Spider-Man's life to try and do good instead, even putting aside his differences with and helping Spider-Man at times.
The Venom/Spider-Man feud began years ago due to bad journalism, Spider-Man's heroism, and the mutual hatred of one angry symbiote. Though the Lethal Protector has become an anti-hero since the '90s, Venom is still widely regarded as one of Spider-Man's most well-known and iconic villains.
Carnage was once a serial killer known as Cletus Kasady, and became Carnage after merging with the offspring of the alien symbiote called Venom during a prison breakout. The symbiote amplified his psychotic nature making him even less mentally stable than he had been previously, and therefore even more dangerous.
Unfortunately, that's not going to be enough to deal with his latest and deadliest villain. Venom and Eddie are betrayed by a special symbiote that he can't control, with the foe posing as a friend who actually wants Venom's throne.
While Eddie Brock's Venom may not be the strongest here, he is recognizable and the most resilient Symbiote compared to many others. Even though he started out as a pure villain, Brock's Venom showed many heroic traits.
After Secret Wars, Spider-Man takes the symbiote back home, and after a while, it leaves Peter's body and connects with Eddie Brock to become a new “Lethal Protector,” named Venom.
After serving alongside other criminals in Osborn's Thunderbolts, Venom was promoted to the Avengers roster... with former Scorpion Mac Gargan using the symbiote's powers to masquerade as Spider-Man.
Carnage is more violent, unpredictable, and some would say more powerful than Venom. As Cletus was already a blood-lusting serial killer before becoming Carnage, the increased aggressivity caused by the bonding with a symbiote only made him more cruel and dangerous.
While Venom grew to be regarded as one of Spider-Man's archenemies, later comic book storylines depict him as an antihero, and he even reluctantly teamed up with Spider-Man when the lives of innocent people were at risk.
This rather alarming news is swept under the rug during the finale and by the end of the movie, Venom and Eddie are back together in human-Symbiote bliss, with everyone rather conveniently forgetting that hosting Venom is slowly killing Eddie.
While held captive, Eddie was saved by the symbiote and planned to stop Drake, who became bonded with another symbiote, Riot. Once they defeated Riot and expose the Life Foundation for their crimes, Eddie decided to bond with the symbiote, together becoming known as Venom.
Venom says it's because Eddie has shown him how much fun it is on Earth and he wants to continue enjoying it, which he certainly can't do if the Symbiotes invade, eat everyone, and destroy the world as we know it.
Dylan Brock is the son of Eddie Brock and Anne Weying. When Anne bonded to the Venom symbiote, she somehow became pregnant with Dylan.
It could be that in the universe of the Venom movies, this type of strong bond is already known among the symbiotes to result in stronger specimens. This could explain why Venom is so fearful of facing an enemy with a ruddy hue.
After a massive showdown at the end of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Venom defeats Carnage and eats him - but some viewers have wondered if the consumption will have any impact on Venom's strength. Comic book enthusiasts were clamoring for the on-screen face-off between the symbiotes, and the movie didn't disappoint.
When it comes to physical strength and abilities, Tom Hardy's Venom is more powerful than Tom Holland's Spider-Man. Venom doesn't need a suit to gain his powers. He can morph his body and grow his mass without any tech or outside upgrades.
Venom's Weaknesses
The Venom symbiote has two major weaknesses - sound and fire. Loud noises cause the symbiote to writhe in pain. That's how Peter Parker originally freed himself of the symbiote.
Basically, it's all but confirmed that Spider-Man will meet Venom eventually, and run-ins with Morbius and Vulture seem likely as well, but from the way the No Way Home mid-credits scene ended, it looks like Peter will be meeting the symbiote first.
