Try to drink plenty water in the lead-up to your treatment, as this will help the skin to be plump and hydrated before your treatment and assist in the healing process. And of course it's always best to avoid planning any important work or social events for up to a week after treatment.
Filler Post-Treatment Instructions
We recommend that you drink 8 glasses of water per day after treatment. Be aware that you must guard against infection by keeping the skin clean, especially in the first 48 hours. You may gently apply a small amount of makeup after 6 hours.
Keeping your skin healthy and moisturized can help maintain your treatment results as well. Drinking plenty of water can keep your skin hydrated and enhance the effect of hyaluronic acid fillers.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. These items may contribute to increased swelling or irritation.
Day before: Don't drink alcoholic beverages one day prior to lip injections, and avoid any blood thinning over the counter drugs such as Aleve, ibuprofen, aspirin, Motrin, and so on. Day of your appointment: Arrive at the appointment with a completely clean face, that is, washed face without any makeup.
Hydration is crucial to getting a good result – because dehydration can detrimentally impact any dermal filler treatment, including lip injection results. So DO drink plenty of water after having treatments. Remember, dermal filler relies on drawing water to the treated cells; so stay hydrated.
Alcohol not only increases your risks of having bruising during the procedure, but also increases the chances of that bruise turning to a hematoma afterward!
Drink plenty of water. HA based fillers such as Juvederm work by using the water naturally stored in our tissues, by drinking plenty of water after having a dermal filler treatment it helps the filler hold its chaos and last for longer.
You can minimize swelling by doing the following. Apply cold compresses to the treatment area for 10 minutes every hour. Use as many pillows as you can tolerate to keep your head elevated while sleeping on the first night after the treatment. Take Arnica Montana and/or Bromelain supplements.
Hyaluronic acid holds 1,000 times its own weight in water, thus attracting water to the skin and holding it there. This product is a favorite as it bring pure, oil-free hydration without the heaviness of creams. Drink more water. Drinking AT LEAST 8 glasses a day will help rid the body (and skin) of toxins.
Preparing for Filler Appointment
Avoid fish oil, Vitamin E, and gingko biloba for 1 week prior to filler. Eat spinach, kale and celery the week before to boost your levels of Vitamin K. Avoid eating apples or large quantities of garlic before your appointment.
Filler Warnings
Filler fatigue is caused by a decrease in skin elasticity, fibrosis, and the creation of an unnaturally wide face. All of these changes can occur not only because of excessive use of collagen-inducing fillers such as calcium hydroxyapatite but also owing to the overuse of hyaluronic acid.
AVOID: Alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates (you may eat fruit), spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours after your treatment.
Food & drink to avoid
– Alcohol – though it's tempting to toast to your lovely results, drinking in the first 24 hours could lead to bruising and swelling. – Caffeine – whether in food or drink form, could slow down the healing process as it can cause dehydration.
You should avoid drinking any alcohol for 24 hours before lip filler injections. This is because alcohol is a vasodilator. In simple terms, alcohol causes your blood vessels to dilate and widen. This means the blood vessels in your lips take up more space beneath the skin, increasing the risk of bruising.
Answer: Coffee shouldn't directly affect your fillers.
Caffeine consumption can cause dehydration, which can make the skin appear less voluminous and even a little “sunken in,” especially in areas like under your eyes, where the skin is thinner.
Over time, as facial movement increases in areas like the lips or cheeks, it causes the filler to break down and dissolve at a quicker rate. This makes the filler disappear faster in more active areas of the face.
Cheek filler
They are ideal for replacing volume loss, enhancing cheek volume, and can improve the appearance of the lower eyelid by volumising the upper cheek area. We recommend using as little as 1ml per session for an enhanced appearance.
Adjusting to Your Filler
It's normal for your skin to feel and look very full immediately after you receive your injections. For instance, if you used hyaluronic acid fillers to create moderate enhancements in your lips, these facial features may look very plump for a couple of days.
Make sure to sleep on your back with your head elevated using 2 pillows for 3 nights-this will ensure that the newly injected filler stays in place. Another option would be to use a wrap around neck pillow to stabilize your head.
After your dermal filler treatment, you should remain in an upright position for 3-4 hours and avoid rubbing or applying any pressure on the treated area. This will prevent the filler from migrating to other areas. The best sleeping positions following treatment limit facial movement and stress on the face.
