It's important to wash your pet bowls separately from your own dishes, to stop any cross contamination. All kinds of bacteria can flourish in pet bowls including salmonella. If this bacteria is transferred on to any of your dishes or kitchen surfaces it can cause illness in humans as well as your pets.
It may help to buy distinct colors — red sponge for your pooch, green sponge for your family — or cut them into unique shapes so you don't confuse them with humans-only scrubbers. On the same note, wash your dog's bowls separately from human dishes.

Take The Food Away
You want your dog to back off when a human touches their food or to simply ignore it — you don't want them to become defensive and protective. By taking their food away as a puppy, you will train them to understand that they don't need to be aggressive about their food being touched.
So, what can dogs drink besides water? You can add some Pedialyte, coconut water, fresh fruit or vegetable juice, unsalted broth, and nut milk to their liquid intake. Your pup will love new beverages as a treat!
Avoid direct contact with your eyes, nose, and mouth, as well as any broken skin. If you choose to let your dog kiss you, it's a good idea to wash your face and hands afterward so that potentially irritating bacteria don't linger.
Remember that leg licking won't harm anyone's legs if done occasionally so there isn't any need for concern. It is when leg licking becomes excessive or starts taking up too much of your attention that needing some help may become necessary.
A dog's saliva is not cleaner than ours.
We do not know very much about all of the bacteria that dogs carry in their saliva, but we do know that the oral microbiome (bacterial environment) differs greatly between dogs and humans. One study found that only 16.4% of identified microbes are shared between humans and dogs.
The more it smells like you, the better! Dogs love clean laundry too, for a different reason. Many dogs are known for immediately rolling on freshly-washed laundry that you've laid out to put away. The reason for this is that dogs identify their family mostly through scent.
Over time, soap residue accumulates in the fibres of the towels, stopping them from absorbing as much water as possible, and from drying as well as they could.
