Encanto
Coco was set in Mexico and clearly had Mexican influence due to the story and mythology. Encanto is about a family from Colombia who all have extraordinary gifts and live in a magical house. The cultures may have some similarities but they are not the same.
In Encanto, Redditor Crateos discovered a WALL-E Easter egg in Bruno's room. “In Encanto (2021) when Maribel meets Bruno, there is a plant inside a boot. Referencing to the plant in Wall-E (2008),” they wrote. This could also be symbolic for Bruno.
Encanto includes at least three hidden Mickeys. The first appears in the middle of the screen as Mirabel sings "Waiting for a Miracle." While she observes her family, three bright specs of light from the Magic Candle form a Mickey icon. The second appears a few seconds later, hidden in the fireworks behind Mirabel.
100% Coco (2017) - Valentijn Avé as Bruno - IMDb.
Bruno has a few Autistic traits. In the movie, he developed the form of ritual based off of a combination of superstition and possibly sensory stimming. He would “knock knock knock on wood” all around him which is a way of asking for protection in many cultures from certain spirits.
In contrast, the name Bruno was chosen at random for Luca. Director Enrico Casarosa explained that Luca's writers wanted the movie to have a signature catchphrase, similar to “Just keep swimming” from Finding Nemo or “Adventure is out there!” from Up.
Encanto 2 has yet to be officially confirmed by Disney, but recent developments at the House of Mouse might have given fans hope that we'll all be talking about Bruno again (if we even stopped). In February 2023, Disney confirmed sequels for Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia.
Alma Madrigal is the mother of Julieta, Pepa and Bruno and the grandmother of Mirabel, Isabela, Luisa, Camilo, Antonio, and Dolores, who all call her "Abuela". She is a kind woman who practically worships the candle that blessed the Madrigals with their magic gifts.
Encanto Moana (also known as Moana Encanto) is a crossover between the two CGI animated movies Encanto and Moana. While this crossover is not very widespread it still has several loyal fans.
Though Encanto doesn't have a traditional villain, one theory states Dolores could be the film's secret antagonist. According to the fan theory (via Reddit), Dolores wants her family to lose their powers. After all, the gift of super hearing isn't necessarily as helpful as increased strength or instant plant life.
Luisa is the Titanic
In the song "Surface Pressure" the audience sees Luisa and Mirabel on a ship coasting towards an iceberg with three donkeys playing music. This is a reference to the RMS Titanic, and the donkeys represent the musicians who kept playing while the ship went down.
Carolina Gaitán as Pepa Madrigal
Her gift allows her to control the weather, with it changing depending on her mood.
Camilo Seems to Greet a Younger Mama Coco
Coco, his great-grandmother, was the daughter of a musician who her mother mistakenly believed abandoned their family.
Sex, Romance & Nudity
A married couple is affectionate: kisses, embraces, and partner dances in flashbacks to their wedding and other occasions.
Throughout Encanto, Mirabel has the nerve to figure out why the magical house is cracking, and she doesn't need supernatural gifts to accomplish her goal. Mirabel's gift is her intelligent determination, and she had that all along.
Returning to Antonio's ceremony, it is clear in a close-up of him grabbing the knob that it has an A etched into it. So, Mirabel did get her door in a way. Her door is the front gate of the Casa Madrigal because she used her gift to teach, heal and rebuild the family like the house was rebuilt.
Abuela Alma tells Bruno to look into the future on why Mirabel didn't get a gift. Bruno is the youngest of the fraternal triplets and the only son of Alma and Pedro, his siblings being Julieta and Pepa.
Together, they had triplets, Julieta, Pepa, and Bruno. Tragically, Pedro's story ended shortly after the birth of the triplets when he sacrificed his life to protect his family as they fled from invaders.
However, in the film, Mirabel doesn't get a gift, which causes problems in her relationship with Abuela Alma (María Cecilia Botero). Alma is constantly worried about losing the magic and letting down her family, and the village.
After a world premiere November 3, 2021, Encanto was released theatrically on November 24, 2021. After a 30-day run, the film was made available on Disney+ on December 24. If Encanto 2 is officially announced in the next year, fans might expect a release date of at least 2025, due to the demands of production.
As for Mirabel not getting a door during her ceremony, it;s widely acknowledged that Mirabel's “power” is as the guardian of the family's magic itself and Mirabel being Abuela's successor, so instead of getting her own room and door, Casita's front door became Mirabel's.
The character of Bruno had already evolved during the film's creation. In an early iteration, he was much younger, someone Mirabel's age. He was also originally named Oscar, but Bush said a legal snag over the existence of a number of real-life Oscar Madrigals in Colombia, led them to explore other name options.
