Joss Whedon is said to have originally envisioned Cordelia Chase as a Black character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. According to Whedon's former PA, George Snyder, The WB network had "concern" about "interracial relationships" at the time, so the creator had to change his casting plans.
For years, there have been whispers of Cordelia being written off of Angel because Whedon was upset with Carpenter's pregnancy. Carpenter confirmed as much in her statement, admitting that Whedon “asked me if I was 'going to keep it' and manipulatively weaponized my womanhood and faith against me.
Later, in Angel's perfect-day dream sequence, Angel and Cordelia consummated their relationship, but Angel called out "Buffy!" as he lost his soul, just as he did in Sunnydale years earlier.

Cordelia is a woman of color, she is biracial, she is Middle Eastern in her heritage. But she is not Muslim. I understand that Cordelia and Alastair not being Muslim means some readers will have trouble relating to them; but this was a world-building decision made long before Cordelia and Alastair were invented.

After three seasons on Buffy, Cordelia left the series to move over to star in Angel, a spin-off series focusing on Buffy's vampire ex-lover Angel (David Boreanaz). The first season of Angel sees Cordelia move to Los Angeles, in the hopes of escaping her new-found poverty by becoming an actress.

She looked over to find James blinking at her. Later she realized that Daisy was a nickname for Margaret because the French for daisy was marguerite, and Cordelia felt an awful fool. James clearly knew at the time, but he was too kind to say so. Instead, he said, “Why shouldn't we call you Daisy, if you like it?”
Cordelia's favorite book is Layla and Majnun by Nizami Ganjavi. It is also one of her mother's favorites and is where her nickname "Layla" comes from. The name Cordelia means heart.
At Kent's departure, the King of France and Duke of Burgundy enter, both of whom are suitors for Cordelia's hand in marriage. They are told that Cordelia will not receive a dowry or inheritance from her father. The Duke withdraws his suit, because a wife without a dowry is of no use to him.
Furious, Lear disowns her, which means Burgundy no longer wants to marry her. Luckily, the King of France likes girls with principles, so he says he will take her off to France as his bride. 4.4 Cordelia shows up in Britain with a bunch of soldiers she borrowed from her husband, the King of France.
Cordelia sacrificed herself so that Mallory could rise as Supreme, going back in time and killing Michael before he could come into his own as the ender of days. But unbeknownst to the witches, another Antichrist was born to take his place—to Timothy and Emily, the lovers seen in Outpost 3.
