Albus Dumbledore was sorted into Gryffindor because he embodied the house's key traits – bravery, daring, nerve, and chivalry. Known for his courage and determination, Dumbledore consistently demonstrated these characteristics throughout his life, notably in his fight against dark magic.
During his time as a student, Dumbledore was in Gryffindor House. Rowling said in an interview that Dumbledore was about 150 years old. However, on her website, she states that Dumbledore was born in 1881, making him either 115 or 116 at the time of his death.
>"By the end of his first year, he would never again be known as the son of a Muggle-hater, but as nothing more or less than the most brilliant student ever seen at the school." Dumbledore began attending Hogwarts in the autumn of 1892 and was Sorted into Gryffindor house.
Hermione isn't creative enough to enjoy or appreciate Divination as a discipline, whereas a Ravenclaw might be more open-minded. Hermione values bravery and friendship over books and cleverness. While Hermione is known as the smartest witch of her age, her intelligence isn't what she values the most.
Ron Weasley
Being Harry Potter's best friend certainly needed heaps of bravery – hence the Sorting Hat not messing around in sorting Ron into Gryffindor, the house of his parents, brothers and sister.
J.K. Rowling also branded Ravenclaws as “the most individual” (take that other houses!). Along with this, Ravenclaws are eccentric and creative. Perhaps the most recognizable Ravenclaw in the Harry Potter series, Luna Lovegood is certainly eccentric.
Moaning Myrtle
Born in the late 1920s to Muggle parents, Myrtle Warren started her Hogwarts life in the early 1940s, where she was sorted into Ravenclaw.
And, naturally, J.K. Rowling herself is a Gryffindor.
Rowling revealed her house during a livestream in 2012. "I'm now on Pottermore as a regular user. That's how I check what's going on – even though I'm not going to give my username," said Rowling.
Dorcas Meadowes, the member of the Order of the Phoenix whom Voldemort personally murdered, is a Slytherin. Fleur Delacour, had she attended Hogwarts, would be a Gryffindor. Mad-Eye Moody is a Hufflepuff.
Harry is the Heir of Gryffindor (though his powers have been bound by his father when he was a baby), Neville is the Heir of Hufflepuff, Meghan (OFC, daughter of Sirius) is the Heir of Ravenclaw. Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, Remus/Tonks.
But when they went to Hogwarts, everything changed. The pair were parted when the Sorting Hat placed Severus in Slytherin and Lily in Gryffindor, and while Lily thrived in her new, magical life, Snape was essentially placed in close quarters with the likes of Lucius Malfoy, Avery and Mulciber.
Albus Dumbledore once hinted that Snape would be better suited for Gryffindor, but this proves that Severus is a Slytherin through and through.
Severus was Sorted into Ravenclaw, thankfully avoiding being sorted into Slytherin, as that would put a strain on his relationship with his best friend and true love, Lily Evans. While attending Hogwarts, it was noticed since his first day that the boy was a prodigy.
It was confirmed on Pottermore that Hermione was also a bit of a Hatstall, as the Sorting Hat saw the potential for her to be both Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. In the end, Gryffindor won out, and it's possible that Hermione wanted to be seen for being brave more than for her intelligence.
Not content with having so much Hogwarts paraphernalia already, Lord Voldemort was able to secure the tiara of the Ravenclaw house founder, Rowena, whose daughter Helena was murdered at the hands of Slytherin's house ghost, the Bloody Baron.
Gryffindor! Swift is brave, true and loves cats. Gryffindors are also those things -- and their mascot is a lion, which is a kind of cat.
Gryffindor: Harry Styles
"He has got a lovely, lovely character. It's a gift."
Slytherin is the most common house in 69 countries across the world. Ravenclaw and Slytherin tie as the most common house in 15 states each. The United States is made up of a majority of Gryffindors (40%). Though the UK has an almost equal split, Hufflepuff is the majority household (27%).
The Riddle House was a manor house in Little Hangleton that was home to Thomas, Mary, and Tom Riddle Senior (Lord Voldemort's paternal family). Their mansion was perched atop a hill overlooking the village. Tom Riddle (Lord Voldemort) murdered his grandparents and father in the Riddle House in 1943.
1 Rowena Ravenclaw
As one of the most famous Ravenclaws, Rowena built her house on the ideals she valued and embodied — intelligence and creativity.
The most likely reason why Lord Voldemort's nose disappeared and he devolved into such an evil-looking creature is that as he dabbled deeper into the Dark Arts, his appearance gradually became as distorted as what remained of his twisted soul.
ENEMIES. Slytherins and Ravenclaws - Slytherins hate rules and Ravenclaws are ingenious. Together they can take over the world or create amazing spells. Or they can hate eachother with a fury and rage.
Ravenclaw is famous for welcoming eccentric people
Ravenclaw hasn't half produced a band of fascinating minds, many of whom touched Harry's life: from Cho Chang and Moaning Myrtle, to the never-ending abstract charms of Luna Lovegood. Intensely intelligent, Ravenclaws are also unique and think outside the box.
Slytherins in love
Look at Lucius and Narcissa – a total power couple. After a fellow Slytherin, the next best match for this shrewd house would probably be Ravenclaw. A Slytherin could use Ravenclaw's intellectual and inquisitive nature to their advantage, plan their world domination in minute detail.
