But Grammer notes that Eddie was already recast during the show's run -- Moose played him from 1993 to 2000 before his son Enzo took over until the show ended in 2004.
He was replaced by his similar-looking son Enzo for the final four seasons of Frasier; Enzo was 7 years old at the time he took over.
The scrappy dog who played Eddie on TV's "Frasier" has died. The 16-year-old Jack Russell terrier, whose real name was Moose, passed away of old age Thursday at the Los Angeles home of TV and movie dog trainer Mathilde De Cagny Halberg, Halberg told People magazine.
What fans may not know is that two Jack Russell Terrier's played Eddie over the course of Frasier: Moose and his son Enzo. Moose was around three years old when he won the role in Frasier and was noted by the cast for being extremely well-trained.
Fans of Frasier, the popular Cheers classic television spinoff series, know well that Kelsey Grammer's Frasier Crane character did not get along with his father's Jack Russell Terrier pup, Eddie. Even from the series premiere, Grammer's character makes this clear.
In fact, all those stories have been happy ones. The cast of Frasier were notably close. Grammer calls Pierce the brother he never had. Along with the late John Mahoney, who played their dad, Martin, Pierce is godfather to Leeves's son.
Maris Crane is Niles Crane's wife for much of the series, though she is never fully seen onscreen (much like Norm Peterson's wife, Vera, on Cheers). She is the most notable of the show's never-seen characters, and often the subject of many jokes. Her family is not revealed on the series.
John Lithgow turned down the part of Frasier Crane in 'Cheers' when he was going through a “snobbish” phase.
Moose, the celebrity Jack Russell Terrier most famous for his role as Eddie on the television sitcom Frasier, earned around $10,000 per episode, for a net worth of approximately $3.2 million.
By the end of the show, Martin reacquaints himself with Ronee Lawrence, a woman who, as a teenager babysat Frasier and Niles. They become involved in a romance, which escalates into a marriage proposal. The ceremony takes place in the final episode of the series, establishing a new chapter in Martin's life.
Frasier finishes his story just as the plane lands, giving viewers a surprise: Frasier was landing in Chicago, where Charlotte had moved, and not to San Francisco.
She has a brief fling with a co-worker, Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe (much to her later chagrin). Early in the fifth season, Roz discovers that she is pregnant with the child of a 20-year-old college student with whom she had a brief fling. By the end of the season, Roz gives birth to a girl, whom she names Alice.
Kelsey Grammer reveals David Hyde Pierce won't return as Niles in Frasier reboot series. It's the moment of truth that Frasier fans have been eagerly waiting for. But it's probably not the desired news, after Kelsey Grammer aka Dr. Frasier Crane revealed his brother Niles won't be appearing in the new series.
The baby that Niles and Daphne have at the end of the show is not a result of a real life pregnancy of Jane Leeves, the actress who plays Daphne. However, she was pregnant earlier in the show. In season 8 the actress got pregnant and it was simply written into the show as a weight gain.
Paramount+'s reboot of the hit NBC sitcom “Frasier” is set to begin rehearsals in February. But the show will notably be missing a fan-favorite member of the original cast: David Hyde Pierce, who played Frasier's younger brother Niles Crane.
I can now reveal what they were actually drinking. . . it's Harvey's Bristol Cream. In Season 6 episode 9 Frasier decants a distinctive blue bottle.
David Hyde Pierce studied classical piano before becoming an actor. When you see Niles playing on Frasier, you can see he's really playing!
Located in the fictional Elliott Bay Towers, the three-bedroom, three-bath luxury condo has view of the Space Needle and Seattle skyline so amazing, it's no surprise that it's entirely fictional. The backdrop image used was actually taken at Kerry Park and would be impossible from any real condo.
The pair never got together because Frasier and Roz were fundamentally different people with radically opposite interests. Frasier delighted in the high-society pursuits of opera and great literature, while Roz partook in the less sophisticated pastimes of bars and Bruce Springsteen concerts.
Spoilers (1) David Hyde Pierce (Niles) did actually make the half-court basket shown in this episode -- on the 27th take.
One member of Frasier's cast received more fan mail than anyone else: Eddie the dog!
This was primarily because they didn't want viewers to think that Frasier was simply riffing off with what Cheers did with Vera, Norm's (George Wendt) wife, who was often mentioned but never made it on screen. They planned on debuting Maris in episode 3, but the gag became too funny that they stuck with it.
The rest of Season 10 and early Season 11 show Daphne and Niles adjusting to their new life as a wedded couple. Daphne and Niles have their first child, David, in the final episode of the series, "Goodnight, Seattle". (He is named after the show's co-creator David Angell who died in the September 11 attacks.)
- Frasier works out that the 20 year old waiter Rick is the father of Roz's baby: Roz: It's a little embarassing with him being seven years younger than I am - oh, put your eyebrows down!
