That's the fatherly way of Lucius Malfoy. Lucius Malfoy's parenting methods were… a choice. When he wasn't trying to bestow Horcruxes on young children, or feed his son Draco with anti-Muggle sentiment, he was probably doing something else terrible. No wonder Draco was so, well, Draco.
Though it should be noted he was still happier having finally broken free from the Death Eaters alongside his family, even if this was out of self-preservation rather than a genuine change of heart, it still proved that Lucius wasn't a completely evil and selfish person underneath, and that he was capable of genuine ...
By the Battle of Hogwarts, Lucius abandoned his loyalty to Voldemort to protect his family, and was pardoned for his crimes due to his last-minute defection.
In a lot of ways, Lucius Malfoy is very similar to Vernon Dursley. Both men believe their kind is better than everyone else, both show disdain for Harry Potter, and both love their sons. Lucius didn't spoil Draco to the level that Vernon did Dudley but he didn't always have his son's best interest at heart.
Here's the thing: He is abusive. The way that Draco views the world is because of how Lucius spoke to him as a child. Throughout the series, we see him talk down to not only his own son but Harry Potter as well.
No, he seems to love his son and to be easily manipulated by him. But at the same time there's a level on which his love is conditional - he's very hot on Draco getting top marks in class all the time - and I get the impression that he doesn't have much respect for Draco's opinions.
The main reason is that Lucius failed to retrieve the prophecy from the Ministry of Magic, put that on top of all the other times Lucius failed, and it leads to him losing any clout he once carried within the Death Eaters. Lucius did that for his own benefit - he was trying to discredit Arthur weasley.
He Always Thought Highly Of Snape
After Lucius Malfoy was made Slytherin House's Prefect, he warmly welcomed a younger Severus Snape into his social group. During their time in Hogwarts, the two befriended one another, even though Lucius clearly wouldn't have liked Snape's secret crush's non-magical blood status.
Despite being a valued Death Eater in the days before Voldemort fell following his attack on baby Harry, Lucius stumbled out of favor with the Dark Lord when he squandered Riddle's diary (secretly a horcrux) in Chamber of Secrets and failed to obtain the prophecy in Order of the Phoenix.
Lucius Malfoy did nothing to dispel this hateful impression and was a fully signed up supporter of pure-blood supremacy. In fact, he was in Lord Voldemort's closest circle as a Death Eater. He despised Muggles, Muggle-borns, those he saw as blood traitors and tried to instil those values in his family.
Throughout their entire interaction, Lucius does nothing but bully Draco and order him around. The first thing we hear Lucius say is, “Touch nothing, Draco” (CoS 15). He then tells Draco he's going to buy him a racing broom, even though it's clear that Draco would prefer to get a different present.
No, at least in the book. In the movie, yes, Lucius Malfoy did start to say the incantation for the Killing Curse before he got stopped by Dobby. However, Jason Isaacs, the actor playing him, stated in an interview that he just said the first spell that came into his head, which happened to be Avada Kedavra.
Narcissa's greatest moment, however, was when she chose to betray Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Not knowing whether Draco was alive or dead, Narcissa chose to lie to the Dark Lord rather than risk losing her son.
Because Arthur was a “blood traitor”: A pureblood who associated with Muggles/did not view them as inferior. It outraged him that someone lucky enough to be “pure” refused to embrace that purity, and instead wanted to protect Muggles and was in fact fascinated by their culture. Also, the rich look down on the poor.
Lucius Malfoy may be one of the Dark Lord Voldemort's Death Eaters, but that doesn't have to mean he's a bad father or that he was cruel and had hurt/abused his wife, Narcissa Black Malfoy, and son, Draco Malfoy. He's definitely an awesome and loving father.
Although Snape may not have projected his memory of James onto Harry, he still would have been predisposed to dislike him by virtue of him being James Potter's son. Harry being in Slytherin would not have changed this fact.
Isaacs brings up Lucius' disheveled appearance in Deathly Hallows, raising the possibility that the Malfoy patriarch had begun drinking too much. The way Isaacs saw it, Lucius was in a no-win situation. Given everything he'd done, the man no longer had a place on either side of the war.
At the same time, Snape, his true loyalty to Dumbledore, informed the headmaster of this plot, and both knew that it was no more than an excuse to see Draco fail and kill him in punishment for Lucius's failure.
Pansy Parkinson
Draco lost his virginity to her on the Yule Ball night in fourth year and since then Draco and Pansy had been sexual partners.
The first time, it was his own mother dying for his sake, which created the magical protection that saved him. The second time, it was Narcissa's love of her own son which motivated her to lie to Voldemort, ensuring Harry's survival.
She asked him because if Draco was still alive, she had something to fight for. She had a reason to lie to Voldemort. If Draco is alive, she needs to get into the school to see him and protect him, and helping Harry feign death was the easiest way to do that.
Lucius Malfoy is an only child—it's reasonable to assume that perhaps he and Narcissa were satisfied once an heir to the Malfoy lineage was established, as it was with his parents. One might speculate that in doing so, Lucius establishes Draco as the embodiment of himself.
Sensing he's helpless, Malfoy gives the duo a stare and hurries out of sight. The ending of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is slightly different, thanks to actor Jason Isaacs improvising the Killing Curse - Avada Kedavra. As Lucius attempts to shoot the Unforgivable Curse, Dobby blasts him backward.
When Lucius turns on Voldemort due to the reveal of his Horcruxes, Narcissa divorces him, taking 75% of Malfoy's wealth with her. Even her relationship with Draco is different, with POS-Narcissa only viewing Draco as a tool to further her own agenda.
