Marvel admitted that Darkseid was a more terrifying villain than Thanos when Earth's Mightiest Heroes met with the supervillain. The ultimate villains in the DC Comics and Marvel Comics Universe are closely connected, as Thanos' look was partly inspired by Darkseid.
Three years after the comic world met Darkseid, Thanos was introduced in Marvel Comics. He first appeared in The Invincible Iron Man # 55 of February 1973.
TIL Thanos is a ripoff of Darkseid : r/comicbooks.
Thanos and Darkseid are two sides of the same coin. Though they don't share the same creators (Thanos was created by Jim Starlin and Darkseid by Jack Kirby), they do share similar origins and roles in their respective universes.
Thanos / Darkseid
The duo actually seem made to contrast with one another. Thanos is fixated on death and uses the Infinity Gauntlet to spread it across the universe. Darkseid wants to control all life and searches for the fabled Anti-Life Equation to do so.
As one of the most powerful entities to roam the galaxy in Marvel universe history, the Phoenix would obliterate Darkseid.
In the four decades since the pair debuted, Darkseid and Thanos have taken big swings at each other, the comics industry, and Hollywood. But in an MCU-saturated world, there's only one winner: Thanos.
He was created by writer-artist Jim Starlin, and first appeared in The Invincible Iron Man #55 (cover date February 1973). An Eternal–Deviant warlord from the moon Titan, Thanos is regarded as one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe.
Darkseid is the ruler of the planet Apokolips and an enemy of Superman. He is a New God who seeks to find the Anti-Life Equation to conquer the universe and destroy all free will.
With the Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos' power is impossible to comprehend, let alone measure. But Darkseid doesn't even need some shiny stones and a fancy glove to boast some awesome powers. He has the ability to teleport through time and space, he's impressively strong, and he's also a telepath/telekinetic.
The Amazons, led by Hippolyta and Antiope, were the first to spring into action and were soon followed by the Atlanteans, who were led by their king, and then the tribes of men, the Old Gods led by Zeus and Yalan Gur of the Green Lantern Corps, allowing them to fight Darkseid and his army on equal footing.
Thanos Would Lose To Darkseid (Even With The Infinity Gauntlet) The debate is ongoing, especially in the comics. However, the cinematic universes seem to very heavily favor Darkseid. For one thing, Thanos appears to be exceptionally weaker in the MCU than his comic book counterpart.
Thanos was inspired by Darkseid, as his appearance was intentionally beefed up so he'd look more menacing like the DC Comics villain. Thanos was beefed up by Marvel Comics in order to look more like Darkseid. When the Mad Titan was originally conceived, he was based on the New God, Metron.
Debate has raged over who is the most effective of the two, and while both have cut multiple paths of destruction across their universes, Darkseid is by and large the scarier of the two.
Ultimately, the show determined that Darkseid would win any confrontation with Thanos. While both of them have a number of powers at their disposal, Thanos falls short of matching Darkseid, even with the Infinity Gauntlet.
That's why Thanos looks like a giant purple guy; Thanos' Deviant gene deformed his appearance. On the other hand, Eros looks like a regular human, just like other Eternals, because they belong to the same evolutionary path.
The Ten Rings, after all, are circular in design, like much of the technology utilized by the Eternals. They also appear to be energy-based in their use, much like the tools and weapons used by the Eternals are fueled by cosmic energy.
In the comics, Thanos is a mutant member of the race of superhumans known as the Titanian Eternals.
1/10 WOULD LOSE TO: Darkseid
While the Hulk's immense strength gives him as good a chance as anyone against Darkseid, Darkseid's Omega Beams would be the deciding factor. The Hulk may survive a blast or two from them, but the more he's hit with them the more of a toll they'll take.
9/10 LOSE: Darkseid
He has superhuman speed and strength, and once fought Zeus to a standstill. Thor would certainly be thwarted by Darkseid. This fearsome villain would be able to drain the lifeforce from him, and even his godly weaponry doesn't seem like it could withstand Darkseid's Omega Beams.
Weakness. Radion: Darkseid and all of the New Gods are vulnerable to a substance called Radion. It source is unknown and its effects are toxic only in sustained amounts or after explosive exposure. The average New God can be slain by an application of Radion from a Radion blaster or bomb.
9/10 LOSE: Darkseid
Ghost Rider might be extremely powerful but going up against a villain of Darkseid's magnitude would spell trouble for him. Darkseid is as mighty as a god, and it seems that even with Ghost Rider's demon on his side, he wouldn't be an equal match.
While Darkseid definitely has the hubris to go up against an entity who represents the embodiment of the universe, there's no way he would be able to triumph. Eternity's power is just too great for words and there's pretty much nothing Darkseid could do that would even phase him.
