Oh, Alfie. Alfie Solomons – king of Camden Town, the Wandering Jew, once a dead man, and Tommy
While the relationship between the two of these men has been complex and strenuous at times, they do still consider one another to be friends (as stated by Alfie to Luca Changretta in Season 4 and by Tommy to Alfie in Season 6) in the way that they both want to push the other to always improve.
However, it turns out that Alfie had an ulterior motive with his betrayal. He had just found out that he had cancer, and he knew Tommy would kill him before the cancer did.
The two have a very strange relationship given that Solomons has crossed Thomas three times and yet the latter continues to trust him. When the two meet, there is a witty exchange of intelligent and threatening words, each trying to intimidate the opponent.
Things go well, but it is revealed that the Economic League knows of Tommy's plans. After some investigation, Tommy discovers that Alfie divulged the plans to the League and to Father Hughes, thereby betraying the Blinders.

Enter a visibly shaken Arthur, who Alfie greets with an enthusiastic “Arthur, Shalom!” He then apologizes to Arthur for getting him thrown in jail and praises him for “allowing Jesus into his life.” Arthur refrains from smashing Alfie's skull with a crystal ashtray despite the relative ease with which Alfie is able to ...
Alfie Solomons
He has no trouble manipulating others, including Thomas, as long as it gets him what he wants. He's even willing to let others die for his needs. Though he's technically a good guy by the end of season 5, he's not a good person at his core.
Murphy explained to BBC that he rolls the cigarette filter in such a way, so that it doesn't stick. He said: “That comes from the fact that the cigarettes, we cut the filter off or do we leave the filter on I cannot recall, but anyway if you don't rub them across your lips initially, they will stick.

Though Alfie doesn't say what type of cancer he has, Schiavo tells Chap that the "Peaky Blinders" team did have a specific kind in mind. Tommy shoots Alfie dead at the end of a long feud between the two, during which Solomons sells Shelby out to the Italians.
