They are James Potter, Sirius, Wormtail, Skeeter, McGonagall, Talbott Winger, and an unnamed witch who can turn into a cat. The fact that there are so few Animagi just causes us fans to want to know more about them. After all, they are some of the most unique characters in all of Harry Potter.
1. His name has wolf origins. A sneaky nod to Lupin's status as a werewolf, the name 'Remus' comes from Roman mythology. In the story, 'Remus' was raised by wolves along with his brother, Romulus.
Hermione is the brightest witch of her age, and she would be the first in the group to successfully transform into her Animagus form, a rather fitting fox.
James's Animagus form was that of a stag, which earned him his nickname, Prongs. Strikingly, Harry's Patronus was a stag and his mother Lily's was a doe, a female deer, showing that the family's characters were in harmony and formed part of the same animal group.
“A creature I wouldn't want to kiss . . . a spider!” Harry figures out the riddle, and realizes that a spider is about to attack. But what he doesn't realize is what I now believe: that the spider in the maze is Professor Snape, in his Animagus form. It is Spider/Snape who bears down on Cedric and Harry.
Peter Pettigrew's Animagus form was a rat. Colloquially, a "rat" is a snitch or informant. Webster's also lists the following possible definition: "a contemptible person: such as... one who betrays or deserts friends or associates."
Draco's boggart would likely be in the form of the Grim Reaper with young Malfoy's own face under its hood. Surprisingly, Lord Voldemort was not Draco's greatest fear.
Ron (Ant that has wings) - Loyal to the queen, and willing to die to save the queen as well. Also quite social.
For example: if Viktor Krum can transfigure his head into a shark's, like he does in Goblet of Fire, that doesn't mean he is an Animagus. Transfiguration is a form of spell-casting, whereas becoming an Animagus is forever. And yes, he could turn into a falcon.
A Metamorphmagus has the extraordinarily uncommon gift of being able to change their appearance at will. We famously met one in the Harry Potter series: Nymphadora Tonks, who used her shapeshifting abilities wisely in her job as an Auror.
Harry, returning to the school, looks into the Great Hall and sees Lupin and Tonks lying among the dead. While this is not mentioned in the book, the author has mentioned in an interview since its publication that Tonks was killed by her aunt Bellatrix Lestrange.
Bill is viciously mauled by the werewolf, Fenrir Greyback. Fortunately, as Fenrir was not transformed at the time, Bill did not become a werewolf, though Madam Pomfrey is unable to completely heal his face, and he remains permanently scarred.
Animagus. Lily's animagus form is a Doe, coupling with her husband, James Potter who is a Stag.
Also one's Patronus and Animagus forms can be the same. So by that logic it is fairly plausible that Dumbledore's Animagus form could have been a Phoenix.
Was Voldemort an Animagus? No, Voldemort was not an Animagus. He didn't see any reason to become an Animagus despite being a gifted wizard and knowing a lot of magic. This may simply be because his sole purpose was to obtain immortality and become the strongest wizard who could control the world around him.
I am a Wolf Animagus.
Known Animagi
Falco Aesalon — Falcon; the first recorded Animagus; the registration system was not in existence in his time.
Talbott Winger was a wizard who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1984 and was Sorted into Ravenclaw house. He was also an Animagus and took the form of an Eagle.
For example, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, Snape was reluctant to fight McGonagall when the latter took him to a duel in front of Hogwarts students. Both characters had their strengths, but the last Harry Potter movie proved Snape was the strongest Hogwarts professor.
Narcissa also had many abilities. She was an Animagus, a Magpie, the same as her Patronus, Metamorphmagus, Parselmouth, Legilimens, Occlumens, and could do nonverbal and hand magic, as well as being able to fly unaided.
The rare forms include creatures like hippogriffs, unicorns and thestrals, which don't seem like viable Animagus forms. It's not impossible, but it just doesn't seem too plausible that someone could transform into a dragon.
Sirius Black and James Potter attended Hogwarts together, and Sirius is Harry's godfather. Sirius is an Animagus, which means he can transform himself into a black, shaggy dog named Padfoot at will.
His animagus form is a black cat with a white mark across its chest - a likeness to the small scar Regulus bears after a particularly bad fight he had with Sirius as a child.
Sirius's early life proved unhappy; he had come to hate most of his relatives, in particular his mother. He rejected his family's pure-blood elitism and reverence for the Dark Arts. At Hogwarts, rather than be sorted into Slytherin like the rest of his family, Sirius was placed in Gryffindor.
