Willard Harvey, in his book His Needs/Her Needs, states the five top needs of men in marriage. Those five needs are admiration, physical attractiveness, recreational companionship, sexual fulfillment and domestic support. The need that is often most neglected and that I want to focus on here is the need for admiration.
Once again, there are things that go without saying. Both the husband and wife need trust, loyalty, fidelity, and love in order for their marriage to work at all. The same goes for compassion, kindness, respect, and the like.
According to Steve Harvey, if you provide a man with these three things in a relationship, he won't leave: support, loyalty, and intimacy. Harvey says that men may hide behind their macho demeanors, but in the end they just want to feel special.
So take them in the spirit in which they are offered, which is a lens to think about your own relationship. This blog is the first of a series on the 5 C's which are Chemistry, Commonality, Constructive Conflict, Courtesy and Commitment.
You need the 4 C's: Communication, Collaboration, Consideration, and Compatibility. Yet as with many things that are simple, they're not always easy! Let's look at how they work to help build a relationship.
It's all about the "three P's." "We profess, we provide and we protect," he says. "A man has got to see where he fits into the providing and protecting role. If you've got everything, you can do everything, you've got your own car … you've got a guard dog and a handgun.
A strong and healthy relationship is built on the three C's: Communication, Compromise and Commitment.
The 3x3 Rule! Basically, you and your partner get 3 hours a week of uninterrupted alone time. You can take those 3 hours all at once OR break it up into a half hour here, an hour there, etc. You also get 3 hours of uninterrupted TOGETHER time.
We must have food, water, air, and shelter to survive. If any one of these basic needs is not met, then humans cannot survive. Before past explorers set off to find new lands and conquer new worlds, they had to make sure that their basic needs were met.
Men love women who are thoughtful, caring, loving and kind. A woman who does little things for her man for no other reason other than that she loves him. A woman who makes him smile back whenever she smiles at him. A woman who radiates love and warmth from her heart.
Clear communication, openness to new experiences, and respect for your partner are key if you want to build a lasting, loving relationship. 1. Make your partner a priority: Take time often to let your boyfriend or hubby know how special he is to you.
"Just being in a relationship and being committed to it, just showing up every day is an expression of [his] love," Chethik said. So what makes a man happy in a marriage? "Acceptance and appreciation. We want to be needed," he said.
Don't forget to make time for yourself. Being a good partner also means taking care of your own needs. Make sure you're eating well, practicing good hygiene, exercising regularly, and keeping a positive attitude. If you're happy, your husband will be happy too!
A good wife exhibits both care and compassion. She is sensitive to the family's needs, and does her best to provide a solution. She understands when her husband is frustrated, and tries to make him happy. Her caring disposition makes sure the family does not lack in any aspect of life.
4. The Golden Rule. Treat your significant other the way you would want to be treated. Be the person you would want to be married to.
Safety, Faithfulness, Commitment and Reliability are 4 pillars of trust every marriage needs. If any one of these is missing, the roof starts caving in and the relationship starts to deteriorate. Marriages thrive when both partners feel safe and secure.
Using Power and Control. This is by far the most destructive force any human can bring to a marital relationship, and obviously includes the use of physical and sexual abuse or violence.
The traits of a good husband include loyalty, communication, respect, and of course – love! Your spouse doesn't have to have all of the good qualities in a man listed above to be a wonderful, loving partner to you. Growth is an important part of love.
Show that you are thoughtful and sensitive by listening, contributing and communicating. Respecting her means respecting yourself as well. Respect her dignity. A man who respects his woman would never cheat on her.
Although relationships tend to differ from couple to couple, the trademark of any healthy romantic partnership comes in the form of five specific pillars on which everything else must be built, namely: love, trust, communication, intimacy, and integrity.
So we talked about the 4 pillars of a relationship. Commitment, Trust, Respect and Communication.
