TikTok allows users to add their pronouns to their profiles. Rather than selecting pronouns from a list, users can type their desired pronouns and choose up to four to display. Our guide will show you how to add your pronouns to your TikTok profile.
Using pronouns on your profile. People use pronouns as a way to refer to someone without using their name. When you add pronouns to your Instagram profile, it allows people to know which pronouns to use when they communicate with you. You can add up to four pronouns to your profile to help others refer to you.
Some examples of personal pronouns are I, you, he, she, we, they, him, her, he, she, us and them. Subject Pronouns are pronouns that perform the action in a sentence. Some examples of subject pronouns are I, you, we, he, she, it, they and one. Object Pronouns are pronouns that receive the action in a sentence.
he/him/his (used by someone who might identify as a male) she/her/hers (used by someone who might identify as a female) they/them/their (used by someone who might not identify strictly as male or female, also considered “gender neutral,” or used when referring to more than one person)
Try starting sentences with words other than pronouns and avoid the common use of pronoun, action, result—instead, switch it up. Ask yourself how each sentence can be rewritten. Can you use another word to start the sentence, or better yet, the paragraph?
Utilize Passive Voice
You can use the passive voice to avoid using pronouns. Take this sentence, for example: “We used 150 ml of HCl for the experiment.” Instead of using “we” and the active voice, you can use a passive voice without a pronoun.
Pronouns are words that replace nouns in a sentence, such as “you,” “we,” or “they.” Most of the time we use pronouns without giving them a second thought, but when we're working to be inclusive of people from all gender identities, it is important to consider our use of gendered pronouns when referring to people.
The best place to put pronouns in your email signature is right next to your name. You can either place them alongside your name or underneath your name. Here are some examples of how to list pronouns on your email signatures: Your Name Here (She/Her)
Include a call-to-action
While your TikTok bio should be brief, you can use it to encourage visitors to take action. For example, if you're promoting a product or service, include a link to your online store. Or, use your TikTok bio as a way to encourage people to sign up for your email list.
Many cisgendered people, aka those who identify as the gender that corresponds with their birth sex, attach pronouns to social media as a show of respect for others who identify outside of the binary.
Pronouns can be in the first person singular (I, me) or plural (we, us); second person singular or plural (you); and the third person singular (e.g., she/her, he/him, they/them, ze/hir) or plural (they/them). Gendered pronouns specifically reference someone's gender: he/him/his or she/her/hers.
There are four types of pronouns: subject pronouns, object pronouns, possessive pronouns, and demonstrative pronouns. Pronouns are one of the eight parts of speech. Pronouns take the place of a person, place, or thing in sentences once the context is understood.
Using the correct pronouns is a way of affirming identity in every interaction. Because of the number of times we use pronouns in a conversation, we can show respect — or disrespect — that many times. Whether you think it's a big deal or not, gender pronouns are important.
Rule: Avoid first and second-person pronouns
The reason you should avoid first-person pronouns in academic writing is that they can weaken the ethos (credibility and trustworthiness) of yourself as the author. Claims that you make as an author should be supported by evidence (such as research and logic).

Pronouns affirm gender identities and create safe spaces by referring to people in the way that feels most accurate to them.
Professional Spaces: By putting your pronouns on your name tag, you're signaling how you want to be addressed. You're also signaling that you will respect folks with pronouns different than your own.
They see sharing pronouns as a way of getting to know someone. Knowing and using someone's pronouns avoids accidentally assuming an incorrect gender based on a name or an appearance. “People have the opportunity then to share how they want to be referred to,” said Sakurai, also founder of International Pronouns Day.
