The Four Horsemen: Criticism, Contempt, Defensiveness, and Stonewalling.
According to couples therapist Dr. John Gottman, the Four Horsemen, behavioral predictors of divorce or break-up, are criticism, defensiveness, contempt, and stonewalling. Their destructive nature earned them the name and reference to christian religion: The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Stonewalling.
Stonewalling can sometimes result when the first three “horsemen” accumulate and become overwhelming. Stonewalling is especially destructive to relationships because it can make one's partner feel abandoned and rejected.
Of the four horsemen, contempt is the most negative and damaging to relationships. The contemptuous partner speaks from a place of superiority, and the recipient of contempt feels belittled, put down, and abused.
After watching thousands of couples argue in his lab, he was able to identify specific negative communication patterns that predict divorce. He called them The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and they are criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling.
Lack of intimacy is one of the top predictors of divorce. While intimacy is an essential aspect of a healthy marriage, reduced intimacy can be due to children or busy work lives.
According to Gottman's research from 1994, contempt is the No. 1 predictor of divorce within the first 6 years of marriage.
In simple terms, stonewalling is when someone completely shuts down in a conversation or is refusing to communicate with another person.
In the context of the Four Horsemen of New Atheism, Ayaan Hirsi Ali is referred to as the Fifth Horseman or One Horse-Woman.
The fourth and final Horseman is named Death. Known as Θάνατος (Thanatos), of all the riders, he is the only one to whom the text itself explicitly gives a name. Unlike the other three, he is not described as carrying a weapon or other object, instead, he is followed by Hades (the resting place of the dead).
Known as 'The Pale Rider', Death is the leader of the Four Horsemen and is the strongest and most feared of the angelic-demonic siblings. He wears an executioner's mask and has green fragments embedded in his chest, previously from an amulet that harnessed the souls of the fallen Nephilim during the battle of Eden.

Nowhere are horses more central to daily life than in Mongolia. Mongolia is known as the land of the horse, and Mongols have a reputation for being the best horsemen on Earth.
Despite a lingering stereotype that men are less emotionally invested in relationships than women, researchers have discovered that it's men, in fact, who suffer the greater emotional impact during a breakup.
These are the four horsemen—damaging behaviors that escalate conflict and erode a relationship. If left unchecked, the four horsemen solidify themselves in a relationship as a normal part of communication. Antidotes are communication skills, relaxation techniques, and other strategies that counteract the four horsemen.
Death is the oldest of the Horsemen, and he is one of the first born Nephilim. He is immensely powerful, often being called the most powerful of the four.

Contempt is the worst of the four horsemen. It is the most destructive negative behavior in relationships. In Dr. John Gottman's four decades of research, he has found it to be the number one predictor of divorce.
Women are the Main Initiators of Divorce
39% of divorces were initiated by the wife. 28% of divorces were initiated by the husband.
It has remained at around this percentage in recent years, shifting slightly higher, to 48%, in 2021. The general declining trend is partly due to the rise in divorces of long-term marriages where children are already grown up.
