Beached Things (BTs) are entities whose souls are stranded in the world of the living following the events of the Death Stranding. BTs are considered extremely dangerous and are almost invariably hostile toward living beings.
BTs pursue their prey through a multi-step process. In the first, they begin searching for a target—the “handprints" left behind is evidence of this behavior. Upon detection, one or more BTs will attempt to seize their target and drag it towards a much larger entity.
How to Kill BTs in Death Stranding. In the early game of Death Stranding, Hematic Grenades are going to be your best friend. If you detect a BT in the vicinity and you know its exact location, you can take it out instantly by throwing a Hematic Grenade at it.
At this point, you should hold R1 to hold your breath. This means the BT can't hear you, and helps hide your position.
