A Code Brown is a nationally recognised emergency alert usually reserved for transport accidents, chemical spills, natural disasters and mass casualty events. It aims to ease the burden on health services by streamlining emergency management systems when there is an influx of patients over a short period of time.
Black is considered the mourning color, although historically it was white. Widows may wear purple when mourning the death of their spouse.

For example, some hospitals use the flag colors to designate the following status: Room Occupied (Red), Room Ready (Green), Nurse Needed (Blue), Fall Risk (Yellow), X-Ray (Black), Health & Physical (White).
What are RGB color codes? RGB defines the values of red (the first number), green (the second number), or blue (the third number). The number 0 signifies no representation of the color and 255 signifies the highest possible concentration of the color.
Some treatments, like defibrillation, can reverse cardiac arrest if applied promptly. If delayed, however, death is inevitable, even with treatment. About 4 of 5 patients who have cardiac arrests in the hospital do not survive.
A “blue code” is defined as any patient with an unexpected cardiac or respiratory arrest requiring resuscitation and activation of a hospital-wide alert.

A Code Grey is an organisation-level response to actual or potential violent, aggressive, abusive or threatening behaviour, exhibited by patients or visitors, towards others or themselves, which creates a risk to health and safety.
A code yellow describes an event that impacts the Facility /Service and may be caused by an internal or external event which could adversely affect the business continuity and /or safety of persons requiring a response.
Code Orange – Mass Casualty/CBRNE Disaster
SHN hospitals remain committed to responding to mass casualties and CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, explosives) disasters by providing emergency care to those affected by the disaster.
PURPLE for child abduction. YELLOW for bomb threat. GRAY for a combative person. SILVER for a person with a weapon and/or active shooter and/or hostage situation.
Bomb or substance threats are usually a form of communication, written or verbal, delivered by electronic (email, fax, etc.), oral (telephone, tape recording), or other medium (letter) which are frequently used to disrupt business or cause alarm.
Code black in hospitals is typically determined by the bed manager and declares that all non-emergency and outpatient procedures be deferred with very few exceptions.
