Topical diclofenac may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: dryness, redness, itching, swelling, pain, hardness, irritation, swelling, scaling, or numbness at application site. acne.
This medication may cause serious skin reactions. They can happen weeks to months after starting the medication. Contact your care team right away if you notice fevers or flu-like symptoms with a rash. The rash may be red or purple and then turn into blisters or peeling of the skin.
For Voltaren® 1% topical gel: After applying this medicine, do not shower, bathe, or wash the affected area for at least 1 hour.
Typically, necrosis develops following hyperemia, skin discoloration, livedoid dermatitis and hemorrhagic patch formation at the injection site [3]. Severe cases may take a rapid clinical course and lead to death [4].
Taking too much diclofenac sodium does not usually cause serious problems. The person may have some stomach pain and vomiting (possibly with blood). However, these symptoms will likely get better. In rare cases, a blood transfusion is needed.
Do not apply the medication to skin that is broken, peeling, infected, swollen, or covered with a rash. Diclofenac gel (Voltaren Arthritis Pain) and topical solution (Pennsaid) are only for use on the skin. Be careful not to get the medication in your eyes, nose, or mouth.

The medication typically reaches its highest level in the body roughly 10 to 14 hours after applying it. Diclofenac sodium (the medication in Voltaren gel) can stay in the body for nearly 3 weeks.
The usual period of treatment is 60-90 days. Maximum effect has been seen with treatment times closer to 90 days. Complete healing may not occur for up to a month after treatment has stopped. Wash your hands after applying the gel, unless your hands are being treated.

Solaraze® and Solacutan® gels contain diclofenac, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). They are used to treat skin damage caused by sun exposure - a condition called solar keratosis. Topical treatments (meaning you apply them to the skin) are useful if you have a lot of small solar keratoses.
Only 6% to 20% of the dose gets into the bloodstream, and there is definitely an effect locally. The benefit is not immense, but 60% of people will have pain reduced by half or more using topical NSAIDs.

Diclofenac may rarely cause serious (possibly fatal) liver disease. Get medical help right away if you have any symptoms of liver damage, including: nausea/vomiting that doesn't stop, loss of appetite, stomach/abdominal pain, yellowing eyes/skin, dark urine. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare.
Voltaren Emulgel helps with the relief of localized traumatic inflammation and pain such as shoulder pain. Shoulders are particularly prone to injury, sprains and strains and painful stiffness called frozen shoulder.
You should not use Voltaren Arthritis Pain gel if you are allergic to diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam, Flector, and others), or if you have ever had an asthma attack or severe allergic reaction after taking aspirin or an NSAID.
Voltaren Arthritis Pain gel is FDA approved to be used daily for 21 days in a row while Salonpas Pain Relief Patch is approved for 3 days of use in a row before consulting a doctor.
If any of the following common side effects are severe or last for more than a few days you should stop using Solaraze and contact your doctor: itching, rash, skin redness, inflammation, contact dermatitis, pain and blistering.
Solaraze gel®
It works by causing inflammation in the unstable skin cells. Treated skin lesions look worse before they improve. They may become red, angry-looking, and weep with treatment but this is not usually too uncomfortable.
