Some of the most common sins we commit are related to speech: gossip, idle chatter, lies, exaggeration, harsh attack and uncharitable remarks. With a gift capable of bringing such good, we can surely cause great harm! - The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy (Proverbs 12:22).
The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
Be intentional. If you're supposed to speak up, do it with boldness. If you are supposed to remain silent, do it with boldness. Psalm 19:14- “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength.” Take responsibility for the words that come out of your mouth.
1 Timothy 4:12 says, “Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” In addition, there is much to be learned from the faith of a child.
As Psalm 52:2-4 states, “Your tongue is like a sharp razor, you worker of treachery. You love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking the truth.
The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly. The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good. The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble.
THE WRONG USE OF THE TONGUE
(1) Blaming God when tempted to do wrong (James 1:13-14). God never tempts us to sin; temptation arises when a man is lured away by his own lust. (2) Speaking hypocritically (James 1:26). It is easy to do this, and what a terrible statement about this very thing is found in Titus 1:16!
It is involved in licking, tasting, breathing, swallowing, and speaking. The papillae present on the tongue gives it a rough texture.
We should use our tongues in confessing or in preaching the truth of God's word in order to impart His saving knowledge to others; to sing praises to God and glorify His holy name.
Many Pentecostal churches encourage members to speak in tongues during prayer in order to communicate with God. Pentecostals also believe that speaking in tongues is a sign that the Holy Spirit has filled a person's body after they have been baptized and accepted Jesus Christ.
The twelve spies of the Israelites sent to spy the Land of Canaan overstepped their bounds: they misused their tongues. They came back with misleading information that had no biblical foundation. They caused the whole house of Israel to murmur and erred against the Lord. The aftermath of their action was unpalatable.
Paul states: “He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself.” 1 Corinthians 14:4. Speaking in tongues can help you express what is in your spirit and which you cannot express with words.
One of the most important zones of the tongue is the central or terminal sulcus, lying about two-thirds from the tongue's tip. The tongue may be further divided into right and left halves by the midline groove; just beneath the groove's surface lies the fibrous lingual septum.
A pink tongue is healthy and normal. A red tongue may indicate heat in the body like a fever or a hormonal imbalance. A reddish purple tongue is a sign that there may be inflammation or an infection in the body. A pale pink tongue may be a sign of a vitamin deficiency, a weak immune system or a lack of energy.
The Bible says, “Building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost” —Jude 20. Speaking in tongues stimulates faith and helps us learn how to trust God more fully. For example, faith must be exercised to speak with tongues because the Holy Spirit specifically directs the words we speak.
Speaking. Humans also use the tongue's movability for speaking. Only when tongue, lips and teeth work together do sounds from the throat turn into understandable letters and words. The tongue is extremely agile and quick: It can produce more than 90 words per minute, using more than 20 different movements.
Proverbs 15:4 – “A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.” A family of gentle speech, a church where people speak kindly, an office with such conversation, is like a Garden of Paradise where one would want to live forever.
Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen and understand. What goes into a man's mouth does not make him `unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him `unclean. '"
Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers; let me not eat of their delicacies. their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs, and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken.
Think it, don't say it.
You can think whatever you want; problems only start once the thoughts become words that hurt other people. Control your tongue by thinking what you want, but saying only what is appropriate. Stand by the advice, “If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.”
The tongue IS NOT the strongest muscle in your body. In fact, it is composed of 8 different muscles. Normal maximum tongue strength in healthy adults falls between 40-80 kilopascals (kPa) with an average of about 63 kPa.
Watch your words and be careful what you say, and you'll be surprised by how few troubles you'll have. Who Controls You?
