Generally, mesomorphs are able to lose or gain weight easily.
Ectomorphs are the body type that is the most resistant to weight gain because of a fast metabolism. In other words, ectomorphs are often able to overeat while gaining little or even no weight. People with this body type have little observable body fat, are only lightly muscled, and have a small frame (and joints).
Endomorphs body type
Endomorphs typically have higher levels of body fat and have a difficult time losing weight and they also have a wider physique when compared to ectomorphs and mesomorphs.
The extreme ectomorph physique is a fragile and delicate one. The bones are light, joints are small and muscles are slight. The limbs are relatively long in proportion and the shoulders droop.
Endomorphs usually have a larger frame and an overall higher body fat percentage. They tend to be efficient nutrient storage machines and store fat quite easily.
That's an ectomorph. Ectomorphs are typically slender with small joints and a light build. They have a narrow frame and fast metabolism, meaning they're often able to overeat without gaining much weight.
05/7Ectomorphs
These are the naturally slim body types which have the highest metabolic rates. These individuals are characterised by small bone structure, small shoulders, lean muscle mass, and flat chest. People with this body type find it extremely difficult to gain weight and have a faster metabolism.
Apple Shape
Abdominal obesity is probably the most dangerous of all, and apple body shape is considered at the highest risk for health issues compared to the other body types. Larger waists can mean higher risk of heart disease. It can also mean higher risk of Type 2 diabetes.
Hourglass frames
Hourglass silhouettes are coveted in beauty magazines and pop culture, but it's actually the least common body shape.
In fact, for men and women alike, ecto-mesomorphs tend to have the “fitness model” look. Often muscular with V-shaped torsos (think: wide upper back, developed chest and shoulders, narrow waist), ecto-mesomorphs are lean and agile, with strong-looking (but not bulky) arms and legs.
An endomorph is usually pear-shaped and more round. They store fat throughout the body especially the arms and legs. It is harder for an endomorph to put on muscle, but it is very easy for them to put up fat. The issue with this body type is about making wrong nutrition decisions like eating too much than they burn.
Pear Shape
People with this shape have extra fat in the hip and thigh area. It's more common among women, and it may be part of the reason they often live longer than men. That could be because belly fat, more common in men, is linked to more health problems than lower-body fat.
The Ectomorph Body
The limbs are often long and thin with front drooping shoulders making them even look smaller. They naturally have lower strength and can expect to gain muscle slower but will also not likely gain extra fat.
Bone Thickness Ratio = Wrist Circumference / Height
If the number you get is smaller than 0.1045, you have thin wrist bones, which is a sign that you're an ectomorph.
The hourglass is the rarest body shape in women. Which body shape is better – apple or pear? A pear body shape is considered better than an apple body shape.
All 160 females in the study agreed on the most attractive body shape or type for a man. A strong upper body is the most attractive body shape or type on men to females, research finds.
Hourglass body shape is the most popular and desired body shape by women for which they practise extensive exercises and workouts. This body shape is all about equal hips and bust measurements and waists narrower than bust and hips.
The mesomorph is often seen as the most favorable body type. With an athletic build, a mesomorph can gain muscle relatively easily and retain it. Whilst they can also gain body fat quite quickly, it's no real issue losing it either. Those with a mesomorph body type tend to make the best bodybuilders.
The mesomorph may be prone to aggressive or obnoxious behavior. According to Sheldon's somatotypes, most criminals are mesomorphs. Sheldon stated that the muscular appearance of a mesomorph can be seen as intimidating, which makes it more likely that the mesomorph will commit a crime.
Rectangle Body Type
This body type is the most common and is typically considered the healthiest. Rectangle-shaped people are less likely to develop obesity, heart disease, or diabetes. A rectangle body shape is typically thin and has a proportional waist, hips, and shoulders.
People with an endomorph body type tend to have a slow metabolism, making it easier to gain weight and harder to lose it. An endomorph diet and exercise plan can help with meeting and maintaining health goals.
It might seem counterintuitive, but generally speaking, skinny people don't have faster metabolisms than people who weigh more. In fact, the bigger your body, the more calories you burn. Basal (or resting) metabolism refers to the total number of calories all the cells in the body need to stay alive and functioning.
A fast metabolism does not necessarily lead to thinness. In fact, studies show that people with overweight/obesity often have fast metabolisms. Their bodies need more energy to keep basic body functions going.
Hummingbirds, with their tiny bodies and high levels of activity, have the highest metabolic rates of any animals -- roughly a dozen times that of a pigeon and a hundred times that of an elephant.
