Clean paper and cardboard (newspapers, magazines, junk mail, envelopes, egg cartons, cardboard boxes - flattened). Juice and milk cartons. Glass bottles and jars. Aluminium/steel cans and lids.
Examples of non-recyclable plastics include bioplastics, composite plastic, plastic-coated wrapping paper and polycarbonate.
On most plastic bottles, containers and other packaging products you will find the universal recycling symbol of the chasing arrows triangle. Within the symbol, there is a number ranging from 1-7. Although manufacturers use the recycle symbol on their products, not all plastics are recyclable.

Toilet roll tubes are made of cardboard, so they can easily be recycled with normal household recycling.

Can polystyrene be recycled? Polystyrene is a type of plastic which is not commonly recycled and should be placed in the waste bin.
Plastic bottles marked #1 (PETE) and #2 (HDPE) are recyclable in most communities. This includes bottles containing shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, baby powder, face cleanser, and body oil, excluding bottles made from black plastic.

This type of plastic is either hard of soft (foam, also known as Styrofoam). Both should go in the landfill. Foam polystyrene, like that found in packaging, is made of mostly air.
