You should avoid vigorous exercise or strenuous exertion such as lifting or straining for a minimum of 3 weeks following surgery. Plan on taking it easy. Do not massage, rub or place any tension on the incisions for a minimum of 4 weeks after your surgery.
EXERCISE - No exercise at all for 3 weeks. Low impact exercise such as walking and very light weight lifting is OK at THREE weeks. SLEEPING - Avoid pressure on breasts. GARMENT - The first garment will be worn for THREE weeks.
However, you should remember that you should not exert yourself physically as you'll not be able to do a lot. Swelling and soreness will gradually lessen in over about a week, after which you can resume working comfortably. Breast massages should be avoided as they can dislodge the transferred fat from the breast.
You should be resting the remainder of the day of surgery, but be sure to walk around a few times per day. During the first week, do not lift over 10 pounds. It is important that you not engage in strenuous activities in the first 3 weeks after surgery.
For best results, you should try to avoid sitting for about two to three weeks after the procedure. While this may seem like a long time, the recovery time is to allow for the best possible fat grafting to occur.
Expect swelling and bruising during the first two weeks. These effects will diminish in the following weeks. Do not sleep on your side for at least three weeks. Sleep on your stomach or back to help protect the fat tissue and encourage tissue survival.
Around 70% of the transferred fat will remain, while the body absorbs 30%. This occurs the first weeks after surgery when the injected fat cells have not yet settled. After the formation of the blood vessels, the transplanted fat cells will remain, so the results become permanent.
Despite these maneuvers, approximately 30% of fat transfer is reabsorbed over the first 6-12 months after surgery. The fat that does survive the transfer will remain permanently and will behave like any other fat in the body. It will respond to normal weight gain and loss as any other fatty tissue. In general, Dr.
Transferred fat is subject to the same biological effects as other fat cells. Losing a significant amount of weight can cause you to lose fat in the transferred area.
Some downsides of fat transfer breast augmentation include: Smaller breast size: Fat transfer increases breast size by one or two cup sizes. If you want larger breasts, you'll need breast implants. Sagging breasts: A fat transfer makes breasts larger, but breasts may still sag.
Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation Results
In most breast augmentation, there is a period of time following surgery where the implants settle into position, and the swelling reduces following the procedure. This is called “dropping and fluffing,” and it usually takes months.
How many cup sizes can you gain with fat transfer? On average, you can achieve an increase of around 1 cup size.
Initially, the breast fat graft procedure does feel a little bit hard, it feels swollen, but over the next three to four weeks, it starts to soften up and feels incredibly natural. After seven to ten days, you probably will be able to go back to work and resume your normal activities.
Wear Your Compression Garment
In your recovery, the first thing your surgeon will recommend is that you wear your compression garment. Compression garments help to reduce swelling and bruising. With fat transfer patients, compression garments can also help smooth the skin in areas where fat has been removed.
Firmness and Lumpiness — While most transferred fat results in a natural feel, it is possible that some or all of the fat may become firm, hard, or lumpy. If some of the fat does not survive the transfer, it may result in fat necrosis (death of transferred fat tissue), causing firmness and discomfort.
Patients often experience a rapid weight gain following the procedure as the body aims to recoup fat and the affected areas will fill with fluid that the body uses to heal.
After Fat Transfer Surgery, Feed the Fat!
You will need to consume extra calories to provide those new fat cells with a good supply of blood. Eat nutrient-rich foods, including those with healthy fats, such as salmon, avocados, walnuts, and extra virgin olive oil.
Use ice packs liberally in the areas of the face where fat was transplanted for the first 3 days after surgery. This minimizes swelling. If you have any discomfort in the body area where fat was harvested, you can use ice packs for the first couple of days.
In week six and beyond, you can progress to doing squats, lunges, and other movements that target the butt.
41% of women said that a C cup would be their ideal size, followed by 25% who said that they would prefer to have a D cup, and 22% who favoured a B cup.
Liposuction Requirements
We require that patients are within 30% of their ideal weight before having liposuction as part of their fat transfer procedure. If you are greater than 30% over the ideal body weight, you will have to lose some weight before liposuction and the fat transfer procedure.
Fat transfer: Because fat transfer to the breast utilizes a patient's own fat cells to increase breast volume – rather than a synthetic implant – the result looks and feels exceptionally natural in most cases. In addition, using the patient's own fat greatly reduces the risk of an allergic or adverse reaction.
Hardened masses that appear post-fat grafting breast augmentation are typically caused by fat necrosis. Fat necrosis is a common complication that may result in either hardened lumps or oil cysts. Oil cysts occur when fat necrosis dissolves and forms a calcified cyst over liquid fat, which feels smooth and pliable.
Unlike breast implants, which need to be replaced every 10 to 20 years (or sooner if there is an implant complication), you only need to have a single fat transfer to achieve long-lasting results with this augmentation treatment.
