A foghorn sound in your plumbing could be a number of things. It may be a faulty ballcock in the toilet, a loose faucet washer, or a valve in the washing machine. It may also be permeating your entire house, in which case it could be from loose or old pipes or a malfunctioning regulator.

Fortunately, noisy pipes are not often cause for concern if dealt with properly. The issue usually lies with simple issues that you can either handle yourself, or that can be dealt with through a routine call-out.
Gurgling pipes are a sign of either a clogged drain line or a clogged vent pipe. Obstacles can block water or air from freely flowing through your pipes. This results in trapped air or gas bubbles, which is the gurgling sound you may hear.
Air in water pipes will sound like a hiss or pop. Alternatively, the trapped air can cause loud gurgling and prolonged vibrating noises. Other sounds are loud noises and bangs emanating from the pipes; this clearly indicates air traveling in the pipes.
Foghorn sound:
If your toilet making foghorn noise after flushing, it's likely because it has a metal ballcock (don't laugh) fill valve. The washer inside the assembly may be loose or worn.

Popping Sounds
If you hear one or more loud “popping” sounds coming from a wall in the residence, this noise could indicate pipes bursting. When water freezes, it expands in size. Consequently, chunks of ice in a frozen plumbing system sometimes press against pipe, blocking the flow of water.
If the humming sounds like it's coming from inside the building's walls or from all taps and appliances (rather than one isolated fixture), it's probably caused by a water pressure issue.
Water pressure that's too high
If your water pressure is too high, it can also cause noisy water pipes. Worse, high water pressure can damage water-supplied appliances, such as your washing machine and dishwasher.
The main cause of an air lock in pipes is when pockets of air are trapped by the flowing water, preventing the free flow of water. Also, cold water pipes have less pressure compared to hot water pipes; as a result, it's mainly hot water pipes that are affected by air locks.
Air in the water piping system can cause rust and corrosion. Rusted pipes weaken, and the rust can drop sediment into your water. The main cause of air in the water lines is water system maintenance. Cutting off the water supply for a period of time can allow air to enter the system.
Also more at risk for freezing are pipes in basements, garages, crawlspaces, kitchens and other rooms with outside walls such as bathrooms. According to Texas A&M University, water pipes can freeze and burst when the outside temperature reaches 20 degrees Fahrenheit or below.
Damage and Rot
That leak may appear small where you see it, but chances are it's leaking more in places you can't see. That standing water can seep into your foundation and cause cracks; it can cause your wood beams to rot; and it can cause your pipes to rust and deteriorate, making the source of the leak even bigger.
Air locks almost never happen in mains cold water pipes. There is no easy way for air to be entrained in (pulled into) a mains water system and there is normally more than enough pressure to clear any air. Unvented hot water systems also very rarely suffer from air locks.
A vibration in your walls can also be the result of something called the “water hammer” effect. When you have a water hammer, this means that the water in your pipes is hitting up against a valve that is shutting off too quickly, or “hammering.” This happens often with toilet fill valves and faucets.
