Destinations. Among the destinations chosen by Russian nationals are Turkey, with more than 100,000 Russians seeking residence, many using Turkish Airlines to fly to Antalya. Georgia and Armenia also received large numbers. By early April, an estimated 100,000 Russians had fled to Georgia and 50,000 went to Armenia.

Russians in Harbin

In 2022, Russia had the largest population among European countries at 144.7 million people. The next largest countries in terms of their population size were Turkey at 85 million, Germany at 83.4 million, the United Kingdom at 67.4 million, and France at 65.6 million.
The vast majority of Russia's population live in the western core area of the country, the region around the capital city of Moscow. Most of the cities on the Barents Sea and in the Eastern Frontier were established for manufacturing or for the exploitation of raw materials.
