7 She Ostracized Meredith When She Was Fired
She yelled at her for helping a dying patient because she was no longer a doctor there. This became especially irritating a few seasons later when Bailey was found responsible for infecting her patients with Staph Infection.
Then, when her court date arrived, Meredith's daughter, Zola, had complications in conjunction with a spina bifida procedure she had years earlier. Meredith refused to leave her daughter's bedside while she went into surgery, and she was given jail time as a result.
They soon discover that she's lost her hearing as a result of the beating she endured. The episode then draws into silence as it is shown from Meredith's perspective, who is unable to hear, or speak. Her jaw is wired shut and she relies on her other senses to interpret the situation.
Webber steps down as chief of surgery and takes the blame for the trial tampering to protect Meredith, Zola is taken away. She and Derek reconcile. Meredith chooses a general surgery specialty over neuro, and they successfully fight to get Zola back.
