The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: “No person suffers any anxiety or grief and says this supplication, but Allah will take away his sorrow and grief, and give him in their stead joy.
The failure of irreligious people in submitting themselves to Allah causes them to be in a constant state of ill ease, anxiety and stress. As a consequence, they are afflicted by various psychological illnesses, which reveal themselves in their physical selves.
Surah Yusuf
The 12th chapter of the Quran revolves around the history of Prophet Yusuf or Jacob (pbuh). It is another chapter of the Quran that was meant to remedy the Prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) dejection after incidents following what is known as The Year of Sadness.
Finding a sense of belonging, establishing healthy relationships within a family and community are considered essential parts of managing grief, sadness, isolation and depression. In Islam, Muslims are taught to seek consultation, or counsel, by others before making decisions.
In moments of extreme difficulty, the Prophet's response was to turn to Allah. The manner and extent to which he ﷺ confided in Him, however, is truly Prophetic. The Prophet ﷺ abandoned every facet of his world and turned to his Friend.
Those attending also cried as they saw the Prophet cry. He said to them: 'Do you hear me? God does not punish anyone for a tearful eye or for sad feelings.
Elijah, a prophet, Biblical hero, and person of faith, was seriously depressed.
Keep asking the Almighty to replace our sadness with hope, anxiety with reassurance, depression with happiness, weakness with strength.
We all experience difficulties in our life's and as Muslims we should know that this is a test from Allah. In fact that this is something Muslims firmly believe in, that going through difficult times is inevitable.
Our study highlights the efficacy of Surah Al-Rehman as a remedy to reduce depression.
The reasons that laughing and crying as Almighty Allah was said in quran, “And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep”. There's a lot of difference in crying of a person to another. Some people are crying out of fear and fright and some are weeping in cause of grief and regret.
The Prophet said, "No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that."
'A'oothubikalimaatil-laahit-taammaati min ghadhabihiwa 'iqaabihi, washarri 'ibaadihi, wa min hamazaatish-shayaateeniwa 'an yahdhuroon. English Translation: I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from His anger and His punishment, from the evil of His slaves and from the taunts of devils and from their presence.
Everyone is indeed tested by Allah in so many forms of both happiness and sadness, shortage and abundance as mentioned in the Qur'an Surah Al Baqarah Verse 155-157. The verse reminds us that anyone, whoever he/she is, even the Prophets are tested by Allah SWT.
Allah has said very clearly in the Quran that the only way to fight anxiety is to have the remembrance of Allah and have faith in Him, worship Him and stay close to Him. There are also many different other ways to release anxiety that Allah has spoken of in the Quran, like intake of honey and milk.
“And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sabirun (the patient). Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: “Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.”

The Prophet (ﷺ) used to invoke Allah at the time of distress, saying, "La ilaha illal- lahu Al-`Azim, al- Halim, La ilaha illal-lahu Rabbu-s-samawati wal-ard wa Rabbu- l-arsh il-azim."
Lord Jesus, we ask you to give us all around peace in our mind, body, soul and spirit. We want you to heal and remove everything that is causing stress, grief, and sorrow in our lives. Please guide our path through life and make our enemies be at peace with us.
Allah is Al-Jabbar, the mender of broken hearts. The Name, Al-Jabbar, is mentioned once in the Holy Qur'an in Surah Al-Hashr, verse 23.
وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَاءٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۙ وَلَا يَزِيدُ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا خَسَارًا And when I am ill, it is [God] who cures me.”
But Jonah was greatly displeased and became angry. He prayed to the LORD, "O LORD, is this not what I said when I was still at home?
Known as “The Weeping Prophet,” Jeremiah was also a very important one, husbanding Israel and Judah through their long enslavement in Babylon and writing two of the Old Testament's key books, Lamentations and the one carrying his name.
Jeremiah preached his message for 40 years and nobody listened. It's no wonder he was discouraged.
