"Someone else close to me died, someone special, with a big heart," says
Speaking to Henry, Enid said, “Someone else close to me died, someone special, with a big heart,” she said, referring to Carl. “He left me a letter reminding me that 'just surviving,' it isn't living.
He had a nice little stack of letters going, and the camera revealed that he'd written one each to Rick, Michonne, Judith, and Enid.
Find a way forward somehow. We don't have to forget what happened, but you can make it so that it won't happen again. That nobody has to live this way. That every life is worth something.
After Enid returns to Hilltop, Daryl, Rosita, Tara, and the other Alexandrians tell Enid, Maggie, Carol, and Morgan of Carl's death. Enid collapses in tears and Maggie holds her.
Enid Was 23 When She Died
That would make her close to the same age as Carl, with whom she grew close before his death. Following her tragic death, she ranks among characters from The Walking Dead that fans believe deserved more.
Speaking to Henry, Enid said, “Someone else close to me died, someone special, with a big heart,” she said, referring to Carl. “He left me a letter reminding me that 'just surviving,' it isn't living. It took me way too long to get what he really meant.”
Conversely, the letter Carl wrote for Negan was much more succinct. Carl didn't get to deliver the note to Negan himself, but Michonne read it to Negan through a walkie-talkie at the end to provide a nice bookend to the episode.

In his final words to his dad, Carl begs him to consider a different way forward: "You can't kill all of them dad. there has to be something after, for you, and for them. There's got to be something after. I know you can't see it yet, how it could be.
Glenn and Maggie take her in and adopt her and they move up to the Hilltop in Alexandria. How does Enid's role fit Sophia's already? Since Enid just was just recently brought into the town, like the rest of the group, she is having a hard time fitting in with the teenagers.
It was a throwback to the time Carl saved Enid from a group of walkers. When Enid left to go to the Hilltop in season seven, Carl decided to go after her and give her a lift. He wound up crashing a car while saving Enid from a zombie.
She's a member of the Wolves
The biggest mystery surrounding Enid is what she was doing hopping over the Safe-Zone's wall. Many fans have been suspicious of her and think she could be a spy for Negan or another villainous group, like the forthcoming Wolves.
"These people, you saved them all. That's all you man," Daryl says to Carl.
Those green balloons are a symbol of hope and life. With Glenn gone and Maggie at Hilltop those green balloons are the last connection that Enid has to the two people who became her family in Alexandria.
She estimates Enid is supposed to be about 23 after the two time jumps. Alden should be 29. The age gap isn't as weird as some viewers may have thought.
Enid is a grown woman. I always thought she was a year or two older than Carl, so before the time jump she'd have been 16 or 17. Or if she was Carl's age, 15. So that means, post time jump (6 years later), she is 21 at the youngest, possibly 23.
Overtime, Enid tries to contribute to the community more and more. Eventually she becomes closer with Carl and become romantically involved. She becomes devastated by his death. After the All Out War, Enid is taken under the wing of Siddiq, becoming a doctor.
Enid does eventually "wolf out" into her werewolf form in the middle of the woods (during a full blood moon) and comes to Wednesday's aid to defeat a Hyde. She was nearly as strong as or rivaled Tyler's strength when he was the Hyde. Her claws in human form can slice through a bus and a wooden raft.
"And you saw that both Rick and Gabriel, and also Negan, were going to get zombie bites applied to them." All three of them were considered to be an "A" in Anne's book.
In Robert Kirkman's comics, Negan is attracted to Alpha, but the two never have a sexual relationship.
Backstory. In season 8, Negan vaguely states that he helped young people improve upon their weaknesses and molded them into stronger individuals. In the season 10 episode "Here's Negan", he is portrayed as having been a high school gym teacher. Negan later met a woman named Lucille and the pair fell in love and married ...
Norman Reedus tells TVGuide.com that Daryl was also devastated to lose Beth, whom he had been searching for ever since she was kidnapped toward the end of Season 4. "Beth meant a lot to Daryl and I feel like she was, in his eyes, one of the only good people left in the world," Reedus says.
Fan account The Walking Dead World wrote: “I feel completely betrayed… why did this need to happen? Carl's [death] feels like a gimmick, a shock-value moment… the heart [of the show] has been removed.” They added: “Carl's post-War comic arc is probably my favourite in the entire series.
Enid (as well as Rebecca) makes a cameo appearance as an old lady in Clowes's Pussey collection of comics.
