Before dying, John tells Dean, if he can't save

Castiel had one of the most memorable character introductions in Supernatural's fifteen years. "I'm the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition" is the first sentence we hear from the stoic figure that menacingly walks towards Dean and Bobby (Jim Beaver), taking no damage from the shots fired at him.
Sam Winchester - Sam is completely immune to the Croatoan Virus, and also to demons' powers when he feeds on the blood of people being used as vessels by demons. He is initially susceptible to Lilith's powers, but quickly develops complete immunity to them.

Dean Was Castiel's Supernatural Mission
The most obvious reason why Castiel would gravitate more towards Dean than Sam is because the elder Winchester brother was his mission and his reason for coming to Earth. In the Supernatural season 3 finale, Dean dies and goes to Hell, presumably for good.
When Dean had first met Ben Dean considered the possibility that Ben might actually be his son. Lisa confirmed to Dean that Ben wasn't his son and his similarities to him was due to her 'type' that she hooked up with that Dean had fallen under.
