Until the climax of Prisoner of Azkaban, Lupin believed Sirius Black was guilty of murdering 12 Muggles, betraying Lily and James Potter, and killing Peter Pettigrew. He eventually discovered the truth — that Sirius was innocent, and the very much alive Peter was the traitor.
Sirius Black had a lot of love in his life. Mainly for his best friends but still. One of the greatest loves came not from his connection to James Potter but rather with his relationship to Remus Lupin. The two had an interesting dynamic and one that fans seemed to gravitate towards.
According to the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban ), Sirius Black played a prank on Severus Snape by telling him how to get past the Whomping Willow so he could see what Remus Lupin and the rest of the Marauders were up to.
Sirius Black, James Potter's best friend, offered himself to be their Secret Keeper but changed his mind and suggested Peter Pettigrew instead. The reason for this was that Sirius came to distrust their friend, Remus Lupin, thinking he might have been a spy, thus making him a target of Lord Voldemort.
I think Remus was equally sad as Harry but dealt and reacted at first by confining the suddenly last link to his friends. And it's hard to do a funeral with no body to burn or bury, and with all that prejudices about Sirius.
Remus Lupin was one of my favourite characters in the entire Potter series. I made myself cry all over again while writing this entry, because I hated killing him. Lupin's condition of lycanthropy (being a werewolf) was a metaphor for those illnesses that carry a stigma, like HIV and AIDS.

Simply put, Professor Severus Snape didn't trust Lupin, thought that he was helping Black into the Castle, and set the essay because he thought someone among the third years would be able to recognize he was a Werewolf.
He is seen in his animagus form by Lucius Malfoy while on Platform 9 3/4. Lucius, as a Death Eater, knows about Sirius' animagus form because Peter Pettigrew told the Death Eaters when he returned to their side after book 3.
Snape hears Lupin admit this while hiding under the Invisibility Cloak and also hears Lupin explain that he was not part of Sirius's joke. Snape still thinks Lupin is helping Sirius, however, and attacks Lupin. He then lets slip that Lupin is a werewolf the next morning.
Remus Never Told Dumbledore About Sirius
For one thing, revealing that Sirius was an unregistered Animagus would mean admitting an illegal practice. But Dumbledore also didn't know that they quelled Remus while he was in werewolf form, and admitting so would have greatly betrayed his trust in them.
Lupin never felt at ease about his love for Tonks, continuing to think that he was being cruel and selfish. Nonetheless, they married quietly in the north of Scotland, with witnesses taken from the local wizarding tavern.
