Viserys told Rhaenyra: "'Tis to begin with a terrible winter gusting out of the distant north. Aegon saw absolute darkness riding on those winds. And whatever dwells within will destroy the world of the living.
Viserys tells his daughter, Princess Rhaenyra, that Aegon “foresaw the end of the world of men. It is to begin with a terrible winter, gusting out of the distant North.
She says this to him because she believes that Viserys told Daemon about Aegon's dream, like he told Rhaenyra about it after he made her heir. Not understanding this, Daemon grabs her by the neck and tells her that Viserys was a man who was a slave to his prophecies.
Over the twenty years since Viserys has named Rhaenyra as heir, it has always been clear that he has not wavered in his support of her. Although he is sick and weak, helped to the throne by his brother Daemon (Matt Smith), he is still cognizant of what is going on.
He goes on to talk about his dream of having a son born wearing Aegon the Conqueror's crown, when Rhaenyra was younger. Viserys never had that dream again, and to keep the kingdom united, he named Rhaenyra his heir. However, after having Aegon II, he confessed to having doubts.
Clearly, at this point, he thinks he's talking to Rhaenyra again, and even though Alicent doesn't understand his talk of the Song of Ice and Fire, she latches on to the name Aegon when Visersy' murmurs it.
Rhaenyra had a busy night, and ended up losing her virginity to Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel). Daemon bragged to Viserys that he'd taken his daughter's innocence, prompting the King to send a cup of Moon Tea to her chambers via Grand Maester Mellos.
We last saw her find out the truth in "We Light the Way" that Rhaenyra lost her virginity to Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel).
While they struggled to get along in the early years after Aemma's death, Viserys seemed determined to show Rhaenyra his support in every situation. His love for his daughter was more powerful than the love he had for any of his other children, and he seemed to truly want little more than to see her happy.
Viserys tried to tell Rhaenyra that he believed in her in every way, even believing that she was the prophesied "Prince That Was Promised." Those words clear up every misunderstanding and every conflict between them, confirming his love and faith in her.
While this is a revelation in and of itself, this sequence also highlights the truth of Daemon and Rhaenyra - he is an abuser and she is his victim, albeit perhaps one who does not see herself as a victim.
When she brings up the Song of Ice and Fire prophecy, Daemon snaps and grabs her by the throat. “Dreams didn't make us kings,” he hisses as Rhaenyra struggles for breath. “Dragons did.”
Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) and Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) finally had sex on House of the Dragon. After teasing their deep connection for weeks, making out in a brothel, and flirting their way through King's Landing, uncle and niece at long last did the dirty.
Viserys reveals to Rhaenyra an old prophecy that claims that one day in the future, a terrible enemy will descend from the north of Westeros and threaten all of humanity. It's up to the Targaryens to guard this secret and prepare for what we as the audience know is the arrival of the Night King and his White Walkers.
In the first episode, King Viserys I Targaryen reveals a secret to his daughter Rhaenyra: Aegon the Conquerer, the first Targaryen king of Westeros, foresaw the White Walker apocalypse coming 100 years ago, and forged the Seven Kingdoms in part because, if he didn't, the divided country would surely fall to the ...
He tells Rhaenyra that Aegon foresaw “the end of the world of men”, which will begin “a terrible winter, gusting out of the distant north”. “Aegon saw absolute darkness riding on those winds, and whatever dwells within will destroy the world of the living,” he says.
Daemon uses Rhaenyra for her position, and by being the first man to be intimate with her, he ensures that no other man would want to marry her. In the books, however, Rhaenyra was in love with Daemon and had always been besotted with him.
Rhaenyra Targaryen: In episode 2, Viserys mentions his daughter, Rhaenyra, is 15 years old. Then, following a time jump in episode 3, he mentions she is now 17 (and “of age” to marry).
4 Affair With Harwin Strong
Rhaenyra chose to sleep with Harwin Strong, and the affair brought them 3 children. These children lived as Targaryens, with many bringing into question the true father of these three Strong boys. Through this affair, Rhaenyra furthers the distance of former relationships.
Rhaenyra has been pregnant with her daughter Visenya since House of the Dragon's latest and last time jump, and it is heartbreaking to see her deal with this loss. The way in which the scene plays out makes it especially disturbing. RELATED: House of the Dragon: Which Dragon is Daemon Singing To?
Daemon stops himself from taking her virginity, though, fleeing the scene conflicted while leaving Rhaenyra to make her way home alone. Unfortunately, their tryst was witnessed by some little birds employed by Daemon's former paramour and current Mistress of Whisperers, Mysaria of the Bonkers Accent (Sonoya Mizuno).
According to the accounts of Septon Eustace, prior to her turning sixteen, Rhaenyra lost her virginity to her uncle, Prince Daemon, after he seduced her.
Simply put, Rhaenys is familiar with family tragedy, and likely doesn't wish to inflict that on others, especially not those within her own extended family.
Leprosy is a slow moving disease
The show has got the speed of the disease correct. King Viserys has lived with leprosy for many decades and the disease has grown very slowly.
In one dark day, Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy) is informed that her father King Viserys (Paddy Considine) is dead, and also that her one-time childhood BFF Queen Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) has usurped the throne by crowning her reprehensible son Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) as king.
