People with OCD often tend to be perfectionists, which Hermione appears to be. Her fear of being imperfect, of making a mistake, of getting into trouble, or not doing well academically makes her extremely anxious.
Myrtle was “often upset so badly that she tried to kill herself until she realised that she was already dead” (wiki). With all of those symptoms being met, it wouldn't be unreasonable to consider her as having a borderline personality disorder.
Complex post-traumatic stress disorder is not a joke. Ginny was abused, possessed, and nearly killed—and that kind of trauma doesn't just evaporate into thin air.
She is ostracized for her emotional behavior, which probably worsens her feelings towards herself. Moaning Myrtle is a complex and layered character; while she may have self-sabotaging qualities, I do believe that with borderline personality disorder, it is harder for her to acknowledge that.
Moaning Myrtle
Born in the late 1920s to Muggle parents, Myrtle Warren started her Hogwarts life in the early 1940s, where she was sorted into Ravenclaw. She had no friends, and was bullied relentlessly because of her glasses and acne.
Myrtle is shown to have a crush on Harry throughout the series. In the Goblet of Fire film, the bathroom scene shows her acting sexually towards Harry. Myrtle was also the first person to be killed by Lord Voldemort.
Anxiety and Phobias, via Ron Weasley
Like a lot of us who live with anxiety (hands and wands held high right here), Ron Weasley always seems to be on edge, bracing for the next shoe to drop so as not to be taken by surprise — especially by the things he fears most.
Hermione subconsciously believes that if she fails her classes she will be kicked out of Hogwarts and the Wizarding World. It is clear that Hermione Granger has obsessive compulsive personality disorder in that she displays many of the symptoms of this disorder of the entire course of the series.
Anti-Social Personality Disorder. Yep, I said it. Draco Malfoy is a Psycopath. He has ZERO empathy.
People who have sadistic personality disorder display aggression and cruel behavior. That all definitely sounds like Bellatrix. She murdered Dobby, Nymphadora Tonks, and Sirius Black. She tortured Frank and Alice Longbottom to the point of insanity, and their son Neville and Hermione Granger as well.
Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series is a prime example of a person with the inattentive type of ADHD (this type of ADHD manifests itself as a lack of focus). Luna is often seen staring out of the window, she is easily distracted, and daydreams a lot.
Loki's dangerous antics and menacing lifestyle puts others at risk. Like Loki, persons with BPD experience disturbing emotional outbursts such as bouts of uncontrollable anger or rage--often followed by shame and guilt.
On Lord Voldemort as a psychopath or sociopath
“There are psychologists who would argue there's really no difference, and in fact, if you consult the diagnostic manual, it would really lump them under one category, antisocial personality disorder.
Throughout the Harry Potter series, it can clearly be seen how Professor Snape does not foster relationships with his students and the other professors at Hogwarts. This lack of desire to be close with anyone is a strong characteristic to his diagnosis with schizoid personality disorder.
1. Albus Dumbledore - Compensatory Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
Severus Snape, on the other hand, deals with depression and grief. Being bullied as a child and the loss of his lady-love naturally make his life miserable.
The books give good examples about what is going on with Ron's anxiety about the spiders and why he reacts to them in the way he does.
Since Emma Watson was diagnosed with combined/hyperactive type ADHD herself as a child, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that she may have brought some of these traits to her stellar portrayal of Hermione, which launched her acting career and endeared her to millions of fans around the world.
The pressure of being in the Slytherin house and being the son of a death eater, all that stuff. I digress. I think Draco was overwhelmed both with Katie's death and the fact that he was forced to be the one to kill Dumbledore as a way of Voldy punishing his family due to his beef with Lucius.
He battles feelings of anxiety, embarrassment, and shame all the time. Harry's experience with these emotions and his bravery in these moments, more than his magical abilities, is what truly makes him special. It is feelings of anguish and our worst thoughts that keep us awake in the dark of night.
The most likely reason why Lord Voldemort's nose disappeared and he devolved into such an evil-looking creature is that as he dabbled deeper into the Dark Arts, his appearance gradually became as distorted as what remained of his twisted soul.
She was just 14 when she died.
It's not surprising to me that she stayed on as a ghost. She was so young and hadn't had the chance to experience much of life.
At that time, he had been turned into a Death Eater and was tasked with killing Dumbledore on behalf of Voldemort. In a moment of transparency, Draco breaks down in the bathroom and explains the situation to Myrtle, who listens intently. Afterward, the two become good friends.
