Actions not allowed: Standing on the line of play when a player takes their stance and makes a stroke. Replace a ball, unless the caddie had lifted or moved the ball. Drop or place a ball in a relief area.

Performance Tips
On top of base pay, tips are given to caddies according to the performance of their players: most caddies earn an extra 5% of their player's winnings when they finish outside the top 10 in a tournament. caddies for players nabbing a top 10 finish usually receive an honorarium of between 6-8%
Giving or taking advice during a round of golf is a violation of Rule 10.2 and comes with a two-shot penalty in stroke play or loss of hole in match play. Things such as asking what club another golfer used before you hit a shot, or how to play a hole you're not familiar with, are considered advice.
It's a bizarre situation, to say the least. PGA Tour caddies typically travel the world to work for their professionals. In most cases, when a pro needs a substitute for a week, he relies on another experienced Tour caddie, a friend or a family member. Using a local caddie is rare, but not unprecedented.
WE ALL know the importance of the relationship between tour professionals and their caddies. They spend a great deal of time together - maybe five hours on the course, an hour or so on the range before every round, perhaps another hour afterwards. Then eat together, they travel together.

Caddies can also earn money from sponsorships. While not at the level of the player, caddies can make money by wearing a hat or a logo on their shirt sleeve that represent a company, most likely a club manufacturer or apparel brand.
Different Materials. Since they're more suited to the office, dress pants are made from thicker material. It allows for a more structured and tailored shape, so they are ideal for more formal settings. That thicker material, however, can make them much more difficult for a golfer.

Do Caddies Get Paid if the Player Misses the Cut? Yes, caddies still get paid even if their player misses the cut. Typically, caddies and their players agree on their base pay for the week. If a player does earn a check, caddies receive between 8-10%.
First, the caddie receives a regular base salary to work for a player, usually between $1,500 to $3,000 per tournament. This is important because most PGA Tour caddies pay their travel expenses, including lodging, food, etc. The caddie is making financial investments in each tournament played, just the like the player.

Until the stroke is made there are limitations relating to when and why a “player's caddie may deliberately stand on or close to an extension of the line of the play behind that ball”. That's known as the restricted area and it covers two points: aiming and help other than aiming.

The average annual salary for a golf caddy is $33,609 per year . Professional golf caddies often earn more money than caddies working at a local golf course or assisting players at an amateur level. Professional caddies can also earn bonuses if the golfer places in or wins a tournament.
Many clubs and resorts offer different levels of caddie service: forecaddies, junior caddies, single or double-baggers, etc. Fees tend to vary accordingly, and, very often, so do expectations for gratuities. But it's usually safe to go by the restaurant rule: a 20 percent tip for a job well done.
Caddies for professional players could make up to $3,000 per tournament, but they also receive a percentage of the player's winnings. As of 2020, the highest paid caddy in golf was Justin Thomas' assistant Jimmy Johnson, who reportedly received as many as $502,851 on that year.
