INFJs have a profound respect for human potential and a deep interest in understanding the mind. Because of this, they are motivated to pursue authentic self-development and strive to live up to their true potential, while encouraging and guiding others to do the same.
INFJ Core Values
As an INFJ you are driven by a vision of the future, you aspire to be insightful, and you desire harmony. You're the kind of person who is always looking forward, always considering what things mean in relation to the big picture.
INFJs are likely to thrive in relationships where their partner is putting in an equal amount of effort. They tend to look for partners who are motivated, trustworthy, and encouraging. They want to feel fully loved and accepted as they are in a relationship and are unlikely to give up on their partner.
They are motivated by thinking through deep, complicated problems and trying to come up with innovative, lasting solutions. INFJs thrive when they are able to build deeper connections with the people they know.
INFJs have great insight into people and situations. They are creative with deep feelings and strong convictions that guide their lives. Strongly humanitarian in outlook, INFJs tend to be idealists, and they are generally doers as well as dreamers.
Dominant Function – Introverted Intuition (Ni)
Introverted Intuition is the strongest and most accessible function of the INFJ. In a way, this is the function they live and breathe.
INFJs have a passionate desire to help people, so much so that it can take over every area of their life, including their relationships with friends, colleagues and in romance. But it is very easy for this sensitive type to give way too much and put other people's needs before their own.
Kindness. As sensitive personalities, INFJs feel attracted to people who show kindness towards others. Extraverted Feeling is their auxiliary function, which means INFJs try to connect in a gentle way, and appreciate those who can do the same. Most INFJs also strive to make a positive impact on the world.
AUTHENTICITY. You want authenticity for yourself. You will have a relentless pull from deep inside to achieve the greatest level of authenticity possible, to be your truest self (self-actualization, they will call it). This will prove to be your highest aspiration.
When INFJs care about someone they try to shine a light on that person's hidden strengths or even obvious positive qualities. It's important for them to make someone they love feel appreciated, uplifted, and inspired to embrace what makes them unique.
INFJs' Two Favorite Love Languages
There are five different love languages: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, or Physical Touch. From what I've seen online and the INFJs I've talked with, Quality Time and Words of Affirmation are the two most popular love languages for INFJs.
To grow as an individual, the INFJ needs to focus on applying their judgment to things only after they have gone through their intuition. In other words, the INFJ needs to consciously try not to use their judgment to dismiss ideas prematurely. Rather, they should use their judgment against their own ideas.
INFJs Are Empathic
They are highly empathic individuals who are attuned to the emotions and needs of others. This can make them vulnerable to being taken advantage of, as they may be too quick to trust others and too willing to overlook red flags.
ENFP. If you have an ENFP as a friend, you'll know how fun and inclusive these types can be. ENFPs may be an INFJ's best match due to the similarities and complementary traits these types share.
However, time and time again, INFJs have told me that they get uncomfortably awkward around their crushes. They giggle more, trip over things more, and make self-deprecating jokes to try to ease the tension.
Although two well-developed individuals of any type can enjoy a healthy relationship, INFJ's natural partner is the ENTP, or the ENFP. INFJ's dominant function of Introverted Intuition is best matched with a personality type that is dominated by Extraverted Intuition.
The INFJ feels an intrinsic drive to do what they can to make the world a better place. INFJs want a meaningful life and deep connections with other people. They do not tend to share themselves freely but appreciate emotional intimacy with a select, committed few.
INFJs enjoy deep conversations with intellectually curious individuals. They enjoy talking about philosophy, psychology, religion, and a lot of the “taboo” subjects that many other people avoid. They enjoy asking questions, looking for answers and understanding how other people see the world.
INFJs ranked as having low dominance according to the CPI™ tool. Since the traits linked with low-dominance were being quiet, cautious, or hesitant to take action, this makes sense. INFJs tend to be on the quiet side, and they also tend to be extremely independent.
The INFJ. Upon first meeting, people often find you calm yet focused. There's a warmth and friendliness to your demeanor that helps put people at ease and encourages them to speak freely. Yet you also give people their space and are not prone to long bouts of chit-chat or small-talk.
Mainly, because they can be too nice for their own good. As empathetic personalities, INFJs can feel deeply what someone else is feeling and have a tendency to try to “fix” others. When you put others first all the time, you're bound to come across people who want to take advantage of your generosity.
