Baby powder or talcum powder is soothing for your skin, and it also helps to absorb any excess oils that can cause thread slipping during your brow procedure. The morning of your appointment, apply a light layer of talcum powder on and around each eyebrow after makeup removal.
You should always allow the eyebrows to grow out properly so that they can be plucked while threading. It is advised that you should wait for 3-4 weeks so that the hair grows properly and avoid tweezing or plucking before the appointment. This will allow the hair to grow in one direction and in the same length as well.
Hydration is key to make your skin less sensitive before threading.
Numb It With Ice
This is by far the easiest and the best way to go about it. Extremely cold temperature tends to make the hair follicles weaker and the skin numb. Washing your face thoroughly with icy cold water also helps a lot, but we recommend that you simply rub an ice cube over the bridge.
PDO Thread Pre-Care Instructions:
Avoid alcohol and smoking 24 hours before treatment. Avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, St. John's Wort, oral Vitamin E, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) in the 24 hours prior to your treatment as they may promote the risk of bruising and bleeding in the injection area.
You should avoid any steam facials or heat treatments. Refrain from taking a hot and steamy baths or shower for at least two hours following treatment. If you are planning on bleaching your face, we would recommend that you wait at least two days between threading and bleaching.
Since threading involves removing hair from the root, it opens up the pores. So the first thing you should do post threading is to apply ice over the area in a circular motion. This constricts the blood vessels and closes pores, in turn reducing swelling and redness.
Cons - Like shaving, threading removes hair only from the surface which means it needs to be repeated regularly (usually monthly). Pain differs from person to person but it can sting quite a bit on sensitive skin. If done improperly (if the skin isn't stretched enough or threaded too harshly), it can leave minor cuts.
Aloe vera gel is often applied after threading for its soothing properties, which assist in healing broken skin without clogging your pores. If you don't have any aloe vera at home, tea tree oil or witch hazel will also provide soothing properties as well as antibacterial benefits which prevent pimples from forming.
Try your best to avoid direct sunshine, sweating, abrasive facial products, spray tans or anything else that may clog/irritate the pores for at least 24 hours after your treatment.
After threading, you can apply aloe vera lotion, extract or natural pulp to the affected areas, and it will significantly reduce the pain after threading.
Moisturize. Hydrate your skin as much as possible. As part of your daily and/or nightly beauty routine, apply a moisturizer that does not contain perfume or alcohol, since these can deter your healing process and cause more irritation.
Experiencing slight discomfort in the first two days after the procedure is normal, it will gradually reduce. Try keeping your head elevated for a week. Don't pull your facial skin, massage, scrub or exfoliate the skin for at least three weeks. You are also not supposed to wash or touch your face for at least 12 hours.
Threading pulls hair out from the follicle root. When the hair is pulled out, the pore is opened. If the area is not clean, bacteria are able to enter into the pore, clogging it, and thereby causing a breakout.
'Breakouts' after eyebrow threading are usually one of two things – irritation or folliculitis. If you develop some minor redness and a few tiny little 'bumps', this may be a simple irritant reaction. For mild irritant reactions, a soothing aloe vera gel might be all you need (wash your hands before applying it!).
If you're wondering if brow threading causes wrinkles, we've got good news! You'll be happy to hear that eyebrow threading isn't known to cause wrinkles. Since the skin isn't being pulled, tugged, or in any other way bothered by the threading process, there should be no adverse effects or the onset of wrinkles.
Is threading good for face? Yes, threading is a very good facial hair removal method. Its effects last longer than waxing, tweezing or shaving and each time you get threaded, the hair grows thinner and finer, more bright and not so visible.
Ice helps to reduce the swelling and aids in the healing process. After the procedure, apply anti-bacterial ointment / cream after the procedure for (First 2 days) and then use Vaseline (Vitamin A and E) for the next 5 days.
Since the cotton thread is rubbing against skin, it can cause a little redness and minor irritation on very sensitive skin types. If that sounds like you, just follow up the service with a cooling gel.
You can also place numbing ointment on the area 30 minutes prior to the service. Eyebrow threading can hurt but typically is viewed as a minor annoying discomfort. Once the process is complete, there is some redness that will resolve itself anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes.
Is a thread lift painful? During a thread lift procedure, you receive local anesthesia, so you don't feel any pain. After the procedure, you may experience some pain, discomfort and soreness. You can take an over-the-counter or prescription pain reliever for several days until the discomfort goes away.
Do consider threading after a warm bath or shower. Heat causes the pores to open, and moisture softens the skin. A warm bath or shower before threading can make the procedure easier and less painful. Even a warm, wet towel on the face for a few minutes helps.
