We suggest you dress comfortably, wear good walking shoes and check the local weather report before you leave for the parks at Walt Disney World Resort. Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times. The parks are a casual, family-oriented environment.
Jeans do not belong in the Disney World parks, in our opinion. By this we mean jean pants, and a lot of jean shorts. They might be fine if you're just popping in the parks for a few hours, but if you're planning on going from rope drop until close, do not wear jeans, friends! Cute, but not for a park day!
Wear what makes you comfortable whether it's shorts, skirts, capris or dresses. At Magic Kingdom, I love adding little castle or classic character touches for a bit of whimsy. Fun character tees or necklaces are a super fun way to add some magic to your look. And don't forget your Mickey or Minnie ears!
Guest Courtesy and Attire Policies
Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times. Clothing that drags on the ground is prohibited in theme parks. Clothing with multiple layers is subject to search.
Whether you want to feel like royalty at the Disney parks or you want an easy-breezy outfit on your next trip to Adventureland, a dress is a great choice. Wearing a dress or skirt to a theme park isn't as hard as you might think — sometimes, it just takes a little more planning.
Suitcases, bags, coolers or backpacks, with or without wheels, larger than 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high (61 cm x 38 cm x 46 cm) are not allowed in any theme park or water park. Loose or dry ice is not permitted in these containers. Re-usable ice packs are recommended.
Speaking of clothes that are so torn up that you're showing more skin than your mom would have let you get away with in high school, Disney also does not allow guests to wear very revealing articles of clothing that could be viewed as “inappropriate for a family setting.” Make sure your shirt isn't overly cropped!
For example, it is highly unlikely they will bar you from the park if you are wearing regular ripped jeans with a small rip at the knee or thigh. However, if your pants look like they've been through a shredder or have a square cut-out at the buttocks, then yes, they will probably deny you access.
Another wondered, “I thought they give you free shirts when they dress code you?” Dress code violators have reported receiving a free Disney T-shirt to cover up.
Depending on what season you go to Disney World, you'll want either shorts or comfortable stretchy jeans/pants. Black leggings are a great go-to for comfort and durability. During the summer months, always opt for shorter bottoms. A note: You do not have to wear only pants/shorts to Disney world!
For Magic Kingdom? There are TONS of bright colors, and a lot of the classic Disney palette. So I usually try for blacks, greys and whites with pops of primary colors (red and blue mostly). These always look GREAT with all the Magic Kingdom backdrops.
All Disney theme park guests are required to wear shirts and shoes at all times. Swimsuit tops are allowed when worn with other appropriate clothing. Disney's Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon have other criteria in place which may vary from the general appearance guidelines.
Visitors planning to explore either or both of Disney's two water parks – Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon – must wear a bathing suit or other swim attire that doesn't have exposed rivets or metal. Disney apparently prefers that its guests don't scratch up its water slides.
Disney parks don't allow costumes or masks for anyone 14 or older, except at certain special events. Because the company has its own costumed characters that interact with guests, it doesn't want those likenesses to be misrepresented.
Costumes may not be worn by Guests 14 years of age or older. Masks may not be worn by Guests 14 years of age or older (unless they are for medical purposes) Clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphics.
Can you wear a sports bra at Disney? Disney reserves the right to bar anyone from the park it deems to be wearing improper attire. Therefore, cast members may prevent you from accessing the grounds if you wear a sports bra, crop top, or similar item.
A lot of first-timers ask whether there is an “closed-toe policy” regarding shoes at the Disney Parks. The answer is no — there is no closed-toe shoe policy. Open-toe shoes, like flip-flops, are just fine. The only shoe restriction at Disney World is that you can't roll around on skate shoes.
Disney parks do not allow visitors to be shirtless. There is no rule that says you must change into a new shirt, but you should remember to respect the dress code. The parks want to create a safe environment for children and adults.
Here are the Disney Look guidelines for hairstyles: • Hair should be neatly combed and arranged in a classic, easy-to-maintain style. Extreme styles are not permitted. Hair below shoulder length should be confined if it falls forward over the face or covers the nametag while working.
Tank-tops or tube-tops are not permitted. Attire that is not appropriate—and which may result in refusal of admittance—includes but is not limited to: Clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphics. Excessively torn clothing.
While you are welcome to use cash if that is your preference, you may wish to have a Disney Gift Card on hand to use for Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering. Many Quick-Service dining locations offer the ability to place and pay for your order through the My Disney Experience mobile app.
Adding a few large zipper-top bags to your Disney park bag is definitely something we recommend. We always carry several in our backpacks! Not only are they awesome for storing snacks or leftover meals in, but zipper bags also work great for keeping items like phones and cameras dry in the rain, or during a water ride.
A: Guests are allowed to bring outside food and nonalcoholic beverages into the parks for self-consumption, provided they are not in glass containers, do not require heating, reheating, processing or refrigeration and do not have pungent odors.
