BT Answer 1571 is an answering service that answers calls when you're away from the phone or engaged on another call. You'll know you have a message in your mailbox if you get an interrupted dial tone.
BT Answer 1571 is a network-based answering service that's free on BT Business phone lines. If your line's connected to a phone system, then 1571 might not be available. When you get a new message, it reminds you to check your mailbox by placing an interrupted dial tone on the line.
You can easily cancel 1571 online. Go to www.bt.com/callingfeatures and click the Manage my calling features button. This will start an online order process. Put in your home number and postcode and confirm you're the BT account holder to continue.
BT Answer 1571 is a basic answering service and is completely free of charge. To activate the service, dial Freefone 0800 003 800.
BT Answer 1571 is available at no extra cost when you sign up, for customers who make calls with BT. If you are billed monthly, then you must make at least two chargeable calls with BT each month or if you are billed quarterly, then you must make at least six chargeable calls with BT within that quarter.
Access your voicemail
Dial *98 from your home phone. If you are away from home, dial your access number and follow the prompts, or dial your phone number, then press the * key when you hear the greeting. Enter your PIN and follow the prompts.
Your voicemail feature may be turned off. On your home phone, dial *90, wait for the dial tone to return, then dial *92. This will make sure all calls are directed to your voicemail when your lines are busy or if no one answers. Hang up and call your home phone number from another line to test your voicemail.

MessageBank is Telstra's voicemail and provides a personal answering service if a phone line is busy or can't be answered. Callers are greeted with your own personal greeting and then asked to leave a message. MessageBank is provided for free on all prepaid, personal and business services.
If you're having problems accessing 1571 voicemail, first check that you have the service activated (If the service is active you'll be able to dial 1571 from your Home Phone and follow the prompts).
You need your PIN to listen to your messages from phones other than your own. You can choose a remote access PIN that's easy for you to remember after you dial 1571. For security reasons, you won't be able to choose a PIN with simple sequences such as 2222 or 1234. You can only change your PIN from your own phone.

Call blocking or call forwarding is turned on. Both reasons may cause any or all phone calls to be sent to voicemail. Simply visit your phone settings to see if your phone lists any blocked numbers or blocks unknown phone numbers or spam calls. Then, you may turn this option off if you like.
