Double: a bloom with between 17 and 25 petals. The 'Playgirl' rose has a single bloom, with four to eight petals. (Rita Perwich) Full: a bloom with between 26 and 40 petals. Fully double/very full: a bloom with more than 41 and as many as 100 petals.
A single rose flower typically has one layer of petals, while a semi-double rose flower has two layers of petals, and a double rose flower has three or more layers of petals.
Double-bloom flowers have a rich history that dates back more than 2000 years. Ancient civilizations viewed them as a novelty and a symbol of prosperity. These strange flowers have more petals than a single flower does. For example, a double rose can have 17 to 25 petals.
Bi-colored roses also have special meanings, like the red and white roses of 'Double Delight', which symbolize unity.
"Double-flowered" describes varieties of flowers with extra petals, often containing flowers within flowers. The double-flowered trait is often noted alongside the scientific name with the abbreviation fl. pl. (flore pleno, a Latin ablative form meaning "with full flower").
These are the flowers that have co-evolved with pollinators. Double flowered plants, on the other hand, have a dense head of petals (like an ornamental rose) that are bred by exploiting naturally occurring genetic mutations that transform some or all of the flower's stamens into additional petals.
We see double flowers in common plants including roses, peonies, carnations, anemones, camelias, and many others. A favorite I've had in my garden for years are double echinacea (coneflowers), bred both for their double blooms, and deep, rich jewel tones, much different than the pinks found in nature.
'Cherry Parfait' (Rosa Floribunda 'Cherry Parfait')

There are several types of Multicolored rose bushes. Generally, a multicolor Rose bush will have a blend of two colors within the bloom. The center of the bloom will be one color, while it will be bordered by a different color.
A rose described as a “semi-double” will have a 9-16 petal count. I think semi-doubles have a relaxed, open look to their blossoms. The stamens can often be seen folded among the petals. An example of a semi-double rose is 'Rosa Mundi' (aka R. gallica 'Versicolor')
Additionally, rosebuds say, “you are young and beautiful.” A single rose stands for simplicity. In full bloom, a rose means “I love you” or “I love you still,” and a bouquet of roses in full bloom signifies gratitude.
Double flowers are mutations, coding errors, in which the cells that are supposed to become stamens are mistakenly instructed to develop into extra petals. This means fewer or no stamens at all and little or no pollen. Many pollinators depend entirely on pollen; it's the reason they have come to visit the flower.
Double flowers refer to a characteristic where the number of petals per flower is double or more than the number of petals in the wild-type simple flower species. Due to its ornamental value, the double flower phenotype is selected by breeders in many species.

It is not uncommon that a rose will respond to changes in its surroundings. The confusing weather patterns, the change in the nutrients of the soil and such will cause a rose to change in color as well as in other ways. The changes may be small at first, but could eventually alter the growth of the plant.
Double tulips
Tulips don't have many petals, but double tulips have a second layer that makes them much thicker. This extra thickness from the double blooms gives them a rose-like appearance. They come in many colors, just like roses. Like roses, the red double tulips symbolize true love.
The Juliet Rose is not only considered to be one of the rarest flowers in the world, but it's also the rarest rose in the world because it took 15 years for rose breeder David Austin to cultivate the flower in England. Additionally, it cost him a whopping $4.3 million to do so.
