God uses broken things, broken soul to produce a crop, broken clouds to give rain, broken grain to give bread, broken bread to give strength and broken people to do great things.
A sense of holding back or being unable to relax in certain situations that remind you of the painful incident from the past. A deadening of your spirit, such that you sometimes can't feel joy, experience intimacy or cry appropriate tears numbing inside you.
God's love for people with broken hearts is clearly expressed throughout scripture. The Psalmist reminds us that God is near to us when we suffer from depression and despair. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed" (Psalm 34:18).
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” The Good News: Even when you're in low spirits, God still loves you.
Psalm 40:1-3
In this, and other Scriptures for depression, we're reminded that God is always near to the brokenhearted. No matter how deep the pit of despair you're in, God can lift you out. Just as He did for David, God can set you back on a path towards hope and He will steady you whenever you start to stumble.
“And He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain….” (Revelation 21:4). Ultimately, there will be a glorious day when you will feel the Hand of God gently caress your cheek, wiping away the tears you once cried.

For God to begin His healing work on your heart, you have to surrender all to Him. Accept that you have no power to fix your heart yourself, and you need His help. Submitting all in faith puts you in a position for the healing power of God to start working in your life.
“And ye shall offer for a sacrifice unto me a broken heart and a contrite spirit. And whoso cometh unto me with a broken heart … , him will I baptize with fire and with the Holy Ghost” (3 Nephi 9:19–20).
The signs and symptoms of spiritual distress include: Feelings of anger or hopelessness. Feelings of depression and anxiety. Difficulty sleeping.
God loves broken people. And when weary, wounded men and women find a way to open their bruised hearts and somehow welcome Him into their personal darkness, they will find a love beyond anything they have ever known.
When we are suffering, God is right beside us. Nothing can separate us from His love. He wants to show us His love through His church, and give us a purpose through His Word!
God can restore what is broken and change it into something that is amazing (Joel 2:23-27).
Luckily for you, and me, spirits are strong and cannot be broken. They can momentarily be shrunk, disowned, denied or frozen (survival techniques), but in the right conditions they will emerge strong again.
“A man's spirit will sustain [him in] his sickness, but who can bear a broken spirit?” This pasuk (verse) in Mishlei (Proverbs) expresses my feelings.
Peter was a broken man. He was saved, but a broken sinner too. However, just as Jesus reached out and saved Peter from drowning (Matt. 14:31), he restored Peter to fellowship after his betrayal as well (John 21:15-19).
According to Cummins, a lost soul can be the result of circumstances that don't align with your soul, including things like abusive relationships, a bad work environment, or simply neglecting your true passions and interests. "That can really fracture our spirit and our soul on all levels," she adds.
Two broken souls can survive together. They can survive better than anyone else together because they know what it is to stick through the worst and the best.
Even before God became man, it's clear throughout the Old Testament that God feels sorrow, even weeps for the crushing blows of His people. Psalm 34:18 promises us that “the Lord is close to the brokenhearted.” How can you be close to someone who is brokenhearted and not feel their pain?
Crying to God is not childish. It is a proof of our trust and utter dependence on God, Who is able to assuage our predicament. When hope is hopeless and there is no one to help, CRYING IN FAITH to God is consequential. Psalm 34:6 “THIS POOR MAN CRIED, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.”
No matter the mental or emotional anguish we experience, God is not looking for sin. He's looking to help us know He's there with us … with love and grace! This concept is beautifully expressed in Psalm 37:23-26: "The steps of a man are established by the LORD, and He delights in his way.
