Level 2 is going to be a dark coffee brown. This is an “almost black” where you can still see the undertones of the hair and that it has some color to it.
Hair color levels
Your level simply refers to how light or dark your hair color is—the lower the number, the darker the hair. Our permanent hair colors range from level 2–10, with 2 being our darkest black and 10 being our lightest “natural” blonde.
To determine your level, take a section of hair from the crown of your head and hold it out where you can see it, away from the rest of your hair. Then, compare it to our level chart, with level 1 being the darkest (black) and level 10 being the lightest (light blonde).
Number two haircut
Although still very short, the popular number two clipper guard is also used for buzz cuts and fades. However, because the hair is a quarter of an inch long the scalp is not exposed in the way that it is with a zero or one cut. This makes it a good cut for guys who have thin hair or who are balding.
Once you've figured out the natural hair color and target level, subtract those two, and you'll get how many levels you need to lift to achieve your desired result. For example, if your hair is a natural level 3 (dark brown), and you want to have level 8 (light blonde) hair, you need to lift 5 levels.
Just know that if you're wanting to go lighter, generally hair dye both box and professional will only be able to lighten your hair 1-2 levels without the need for pre-lightening, aka bleaching. So if you're looking to go from dark brown to blonde, this most likely won't be possible.
Hair Coloring Levels 1 Through 4
As we mentioned, level 1 is going to be a true black. This kind of hair is difficult to lighten and is free of highlights. Level 2 is going to be a dark coffee brown.
A general observation across experiments was that straight hair was perceived as younger, healthier, and more attractive than wavy hair and darker shades (medium copper and brown) were perceived more positively than blonde hair.
The #2 guard comb measures 6mm or 1/4 inch; which is, basically, not too long or short. A number two haircut will leave your hair looking short and fuller.
What is 2 Hair Color? Unlike 1 and 1B, 2 hair color is a shade of dark brown. While it looks black from a distance, up close, you can see the subtle brown hue. It is one of the most natural-looking dark shades and has a warmth not found in true black shades.
The rarest natural hair colour is red, which makes up only one to two percent of the global population. You commonly see these hair colours in western and northern areas of Europe, especially Scotland and Ireland. However, natural redheads may not exist for much longer.
A common sign of damaged hair is hair that looks plain, boring, and dull. Healthy hair should have a natural shine to it—one that appears reflective in light and shows the natural coloring of your hair. The reason for this is that your hair cuticles better reflect light than those that are damaged.
What are the signs of healthy hair? Healthy hair strands have a sheen and a luster, little breakage, minimal shedding, are moisture rich (so not dry), reflect light, do not break when brushed, and do not contain dandruff.
Type 2: Wavy Hair
Wavy hair (Type 2) hair types are naturally wavy and form an “S” shape. It is thicker than Type 1 hair types, and can be considered a medium between straight and curly hair. Because of its slight texture and shape, it is not as oily as Type 1.
The 1b and 2 hair colors look very similar, but they have some subtle differences. 1B is a shade of black, while 2 is a deep, dark brown. This makes 1b darker than 2. 1B human hair are often processed, while color 2 hair is often dyed.
The “awkward stage” occurs when you have decided that you no longer want short hair and you will instead grow it out. Everyone's awkward stage is a bit different depending on their styles, but inevitably, you will find that your hair looks shaggy, uneven, or simply messy at some point in the process.
As cliché as it sounds, “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.” In general, people perceive long hair as more attractive than short hair. However, the reason is more subjective than it is objective. But according to popular opinion, the general affinity for long hair comes from an evolutionary standpoint.
So, what is second-day hair? Well, as the name suggests, this refers to curls that are being worn two days post-wash. Or, depending on how you styled your spirals, the day after taking down a protective style like a twist- or braid-out. The term means that there was no hair washing in between day one and day two.
Type 4 hair is the kinkiest hair type there is. When you think of afros, you're likely thinking of type 4 hair. Made up of a crazy amount of super tight curls, this hair type is the densest of all curl patterns. It's also more prone to shrinkage than Type 2 or Type 3 hair and may be much longer than it appears to be.
We believe one of the reasons is that super-straight hair — also known as type 1a hair — is so rare. In fact, it's the rarest hair type. Only 2% of the world's population has 1a hair. It's mostly found in people of Asian descent.
Famed for its undulating texture that embodies loose waves and well-defined curls, type 2 hair sits in the sweet spot between pin-straight locks and gravity-defying corkscrews. That's why many hairstylists favor the S-shape curl pattern for its relative ease in styling compared to other curl types.
2a – the most subtle curly hair pattern/type, a slight wave or kink to the hair. 2b is loose and bendy S-shaped strands but still more of a wave than a curl. 2c are more defined S-shaped curls which start from the root. It's also worth saying, type 2 wavy hair is not failed curls!
Classified as hair that is naturally wavy, type 2 hair forms an S shape in the hair, and the stronger the 'S' shape, the curlier the hair is. Type 2A hair is the loosest wave, 2B hair consists of curlier waves with a more defined 'S' shape, and 2C hair is the waviest with the most definition among the three categories.
