Malicious caller identification, introduced in 1992 as Call Trace, is activated by Vertical service code Star codes *57, and is an upcharge fee subscription service offered by telephone company providers which, when dialed immediately after a malicious call, records meta-data for police follow-up.
About Call Trace
Call Trace helps you handle obscene, harassing, or threatening calls. It should only be used to trace harassing or threatening calls that warrant legal action. After activating Call Trace, you must contact your local law enforcement agency.
Call Trace (*57) Call Trace is used to help protect you and your family from troubling or harassing phone calls that you need to report to law enforcement officials. This service should only be used if you intend to take legal action against the caller.
Reject anonymous calls
Anonymous Call Rejection (*77) stops calls from people that use a blocking feature to keep their name or number from being displayed. When Anonymous Call Rejection is turned on, callers will hear a message telling them to hang up, turn off the blocking feature, and call again.
You can track someone's location without them knowing by installing a spy app secretly on their target phone. *82 - Unblocks Caller ID on one outbound call
This star code will unblock your caller ID for a single outgoing call if you have previously used *61 to block caller ID for all outbound calls.
Hide Caller ID: *31#
The caller might have hidden the ID intentionally or sometimes it can be accidental. If you want to hide the caller ID dial *31# and press call button.
Can I block a specific caller even if I don't know their phone number? (*97) Yes, Call Blocking can be used to prevent incoming calls from the last caller. For example, if a telemarketer calls and you want to block them from calling again, the *97 feature lets you do this without requiring the phone number.
Your phone is already equipped for Call Trace, simply press *57 to activate; there is no charge for the connection. Charges and fees for using Call Trace may vary. The records of all traced calls will be released to a law enforcement agency only. The action taken by law enforcement may vary by area.
*#62# - With this, you can know if any of your calls - voice, data, fax, SMS etc, has been forwarded or diverted without your knowledge.
Use *67 to hide your phone number
Open your phone's keypad and dial * - 6 - 7, followed by the number you're trying to call. The free process hides your number, which will show up on the other end as “Private” or “Blocked” when reading on caller ID. You will have to dial *67 each time you want your number blocked.
Call return (*69) automatically dials your last incoming call, whether the call was answered, unanswered or busy. Call within 30 minutes, during which you can still make and receive calls.
You can register your numbers on the national Do Not Call list at no cost by calling 1-888-382-1222 (voice) or 1-866-290-4236 (TTY). You must call from the phone number you wish to register.
Call Block, otherwise known as Call Screening, is a feature that allows you to block calls from up to 10 phone numbers within your local calling area for a low monthly rate. Turn on: Press *60. If prompted, press 3 to turn the feature on. Turn off: Press *80.
Speed Dialing
Establish a short list of up to eight numbers, or a longer list of up to 30 numbers. To program your Speed Calling 8 list, dial *74. Listen for the dialtone, then dial the one-digit number (2 through 9) you would like to use to dial a frequently called number.
Call forwarding is disabled by dialing *73. This feature requires a subscription from the telephone company. Also available in some areas is Remote Access to call forwarding, which permit the control over call forwarding from telephones other than the subscriber's telephone.
Dialing *68 will disable the Caller ID for the next outbound / external call only. Selecting a line and dialing this feature code will result in a prompt on the phone display as well as an audible message: "Caller ID is BLOCKED for the next outbound call only." Block calls from your phone
Press *61 to add the last call received to your call block list. Press *80 to turn call blocking off.
To block your number from being displayed temporarily for a specific call: Enter *67. Enter the number you wish to call (including area code).
Forward Calls Only When Busy or on Another Line
Use this feature to send calls to another phone when your phone is busy or when you don't answer after three or four rings: Dial *71 and the number you want to forward calls to.
