As People Magazine reports: Based on the numbers gathered from Furbo users, Samoyed dogs bark the most, often up 52.8 times every day. The second chattiest canine, the Yorkshire Terrier, doesn't come close to the Samoyed's record… the little dogs bark about 23.6 times a day.
Quiet dog breed #1: Basenji
The basenji is known as the “barkless dog,” probably due to the unusual shape of their larynx that may make it virtually impossible to bark.
1 – Basenji: The Barkless Dog
The Basenji or Africa's “Barkless Dog” is a unique breed and contender for the title of oldest AKC breed. While it's true the Basenji doesn't bark, when they express themselves they make a unique sound that is something between a chortle and a yodel.
The Basenji produces an unusual yodel-like sound, due to its unusually shaped larynx. This trait also gives the Basenji the nickname the 'barkless dog.
Dog breeds that can be left alone for long periods include Labrador and Golden Retriever, Beagle, Peekapoo, or Shiba Inu. Naturally, by long-term periods, it's implied that the period is up to 8 hours a day and not more. Of course, you shouldn't forget about adorable mutts.
According to Coren, when sounds are between 3,000 and 12,000 Hz in frequency, dogs' ears are far more sensitive than ours. They can hear those sounds when they are between -5 dB and -15 dB on average. That means dogs can hear sounds that are not loud enough for our ears.
1. Border collie. According to The Intelligence of Dogs, which ranks 131 dog breeds in terms of their relative intelligence, the border collie is the smartest dog breed known to man.
The Aussie, though a silent worker, is very vocal when playing with other dogs. When greeting their owners or upon being praised they will often make a singing noise, speaking to you in various tones ranging from a deep howl to a shrill whine.

Scream: Some breeds scream or shriek when excited or stressed. This is commonly seen in Shiba Inus and pugs, particularly when the latter is getting nail trims. The sound is hard on the ears, but it's simply your dog's way of voicing her unhappiness (and sometimes her overwhelming glee!)

Charlie, the Loudest Barking Dog!
According to Guinness World Records, Charlie, a lovely Golden Retriever owned by Belinda Freebairn, reached a whopping 113.1 decibels during the Purina "Bark in the Park" event held in Australia.
Each breed has its own distinctive bark (or in the case of the the African Barkless Dog, the Basenji, more of a yodel). To highlight each of those unique sounds, The New York Times met with champion show dogs and recorded their barks.

While howling is common among all dogs, some breeds are more likely to howl than others, says Dogster. Those more likely to howl include several hound breeds, including dachshunds, beagles, basset hounds and bloodhounds, as well as huskies, Alaskan malamutes and American Eskimo dogs.
