Important examples of food avoidance are pork among Jews, Muslims and Ethiopian Christians; beef among Hindus, some Buddhists and Jains; chicken and eggs in some African communities; dog meat in the West; fish in Mongolia and other parts of central Asia; milk and milk products in Polynesia and parts of China.
Natto (納豆)
Natto beans are like you love it or hate it forever. There are numerous numbers of Japanese who can not eat it so it's not surprising that it's the most hated Japanese food by foreigners.
When eating from shared dishes (as it is commonly done at some restaurants such as izakaya), it is polite to use the opposite end of your chopsticks or dedicated serving chopsticks for moving food to your own dish. Blowing your nose at the table, burping and audible munching are considered bad manners in Japan.
Not finishing one's meal is not considered impolite in Japan, but rather is taken as a signal to the host that one wishes to be served another helping. Conversely, finishing one's meal completely, especially the rice, indicates that one is satisfied and therefore does not wish to be served any more.
Rice is sacred in Japan and leaving uneaten rice or even morsels of rice in a rice bowl are frowned upon. While visitors will be forgiven, if you don't plan to finish your rice, ask for small portions, decline rice or make an effort to eat every rice morsel.

The Japanese consider it rude to leave food on your plate, and even more so to order more food when you haven't finished everything you've already got. This is related to one of the fundamental concepts in Japanese culture, mottainai, which is a feeling of regret at having wasted something.
For soup served in larger bowls — often containing noodles such as ramen, soba and udon — use the spoon provided for the broth. When eating the noodles, slurp away! Loud slurping may be rude in the U.S., but in Japan it is considered rude not to slurp.
Pointing at people or things is considered rude in Japan. Instead of using a finger to point at something, the Japanese use a hand to gently wave at what they would like to indicate. When referring to themselves, people will use their forefinger to touch their nose instead of pointing at themselves.
Depends on what you're ordering. There are many western restaurants, aka family restaurants, in Japan that provide you with knives and forks. Of course, if you're eating traditional Japanese cuisine, and you ask for a fork and knife, I'm not sure about rude, but it definitely is not common. I can't agree more.

In short: Yes. While red does have a deeper meaning in Japanese history and culture, there's actually no specific stigma around wearing the color in Japan; in fact, it is considered one of the luckiest and happiest colors you can wear and is popular in modern Japanese fashion.
In Japan, crossing one's legs is seen as disrespectful. It is because when you do this you show the bottom of your feet to guests, and since they have picked up dirt, you are showing that dirt to your guests.
Eating while walking in Japan is generally considered okay. There's also no cultural relevance that prohibits people from eating while walking.
Japanese tend not to eat while walking along or standing around on the street. However, it is acceptable to drink while standing aside a vending machine. Eating and drinking on local trains, but not long distance express trains, is also frowned upon.
Photography Etiquette in Cafés and Restaurants
In most cases, they'll be more than happy to let you take a photo of your meal. It doesn't matter if you're taking professional or casual food photos. Make sure you don't include any visible faces in your shots.
Instead, it is polite to say "gochisosama deshita" ("thank you for the meal") when leaving.
It's considered rude to leave food on your plate after you're done, especially when having asked for a second serving, so it's best to request the exact amount you would like to eat.
