The Paul Edmonds salon colourist explains, "The lighter the hair the thinner it can look, so adding dimension into it with darker pieces will add depth." How so?
"Blondes typically have the greatest volume of individual strands per scalp at approximately 140,000 hairs," he says. "Brunettes have approximately 120,000 hairs on average, and redheads have the least amount of density with around 90,000 hairs."

By presenting pictures of the same woman with different dye hair colors, the researchers found that out of the population analyzed, 67 percent of men preferred the woman with brunette hair and 71 percent of women chose the man with brunette hair.
