You reach the first tier once you hit a 365-day streak. After that, it goes up every year, and this will be reflected on your weekly leaderboards and profile page. So if you keep the flame burning for 3 years, you'll have a little 3-year badge underneath your username.
Reaching certain milestones (such as 100 day streak) can earn the user 3 days free of Super Duolingo.
? This just in ? 3 MILLION learners on Duolingo have a streak of 365 days (or more!) and we're so proud ? If you're in this exclusive club, let us know!
What's the point in being part of Duolingo's most exclusive club if you can't tell everyone about it? Well, with VIP status, you can make sure that everyone in your league knows just how special you are. VIP status is unlocked at 365 days and puts a little streak counter underneath your username in the leaderboards.
That said, no course is ever complete (just look at all the changes Duolingo have made to the French and Spanish courses over the years!)
An informal study estimates that course completion rates fall as low as 0.01% for Spanish learners (second most popular language on Duolingo), and peak at 0.24% for Ukrainian learners.
When you've maxed out a level on Duolingo, you will have the option to go back and practice it again. Two options are available: easy (10 XP) and hard (20 XP). Choose the harder option to explore more advanced parts of each level. To do a hard practice lesson, tap on any completed level and select Hard Practice.
You are promoted to the next league. There is no league higher than Diamond. If you reach the top 3 of Diamond, you will remain in that league. NOTE: We no longer offer gem rewards for those in the top 3.
The Streak Society is an exclusive club in Duolingo acquired by users upon reaching a 30 day streak. The program was rolled out on May 28th, 2022 and originally limited membership to users with a 365 day streak. It contains rewards for its members accessible through a tiered system.
The longest streak on Duolingo is over 9 years long (3,285+ days) and was earned by user christi3. However, multiple users have accomplished this feat of a world record Duolingo Streak and have made it onto a Streak Hall of Fame. Above you can see the list of users who have completed a streak of over 2555 days.
Maintaining your Duolingo streak is one of the best ways of doing this. Not only does it motivate you to create that habit, but it's also a good representation of the habit. If you're using streak freezes, however, then things become a little distorted.
All things considered, if you're an enthusiastic, devoted language learner like me, Super Duolingo is well worth the price. If you don't mind watching ads and aren't obsessed with your streak, however, continuing to use the free version is probably just fine.
You don't need to spend hours on Duolingo each day. However, you must put a reasonable amount of time into learning. If you log in to complete one lesson and sign out as soon as you've reached 10XP, you won't get very far. To optimize your learning, aim to spend between 15 and 30 minutes on the app each day.
When it comes to listening and reading, they found that 5 units of Duolingo is comparable to 4 university semesters. As for speaking, they found that at least 50% of learners that had completed 5 units of the French and Spanish courses reached at least an A2 level of speaking.
Putting in ten hours of study and practice per day, this equates to two months for “easy” languages and four months for “difficult” languages. How do you get started? Web sites such as DuoLingo can teach you 27 languages for free.
One league consists of one of the 10 possible gem ranks, ranked from lowest to highest: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, Amethyst, Pearl, Obsidian and Diamond. Competitions refresh on Mondays every week at midnight GMT.

Reviewing at the “Hard Practice” level results in 20XP – two times more XP than a new lesson. Reviewing previous lessons [selecting “Hard Practice”] is key to both learning a new language on Duolingo – and to earn XP fast on the platform.
Duolingo Classes will wind down and retire on January 18th, 2023.
Free features
The beauty of Duolingo is that everything you need is included for free. This includes: Complete language courses, including all levels and units.
If you have previous experience with a language and feel that lessons are too easy, you can scroll to the next locked unit and tap the circle that says “Jump here?”. If you pass the test, you'll unlock that unit! NOTE: This will complete all levels up to that point.
The U.S. hosts the majority of Duolingo's users at 21.6%. The most popular languages are Spanish, French, and German. Among U.S. users, 43.95% are female and 56.05% are male, with 54% aged 18-34.
Duolingo gives you a placement test at the beginning of any new course so that you don't have to waste time with things you already know. I immediately “tested out” of 70% of the lessons and was able to take the final test for the Duolingo Award as they call it and completed it.
