Side effects of deworming are rare. In some rare cases, children can experience dizziness, headache, nausea, and vomiting after deworming. This is just the effect of the worm passing through the body. Consult a doctor immediately if these symptoms do not go away even after a day.
If the treatment is working, the worms your puppy deposits in their stool should be dead. Dead worms are less white and more translucent than ones that are alive. Deworming treatments generally begin working about 12 hours after you give them the deworming treatment.
Deworming can help increase your little one's nutritional uptake and manage infections like anaemia or even loose bowels. Moreover, it also helps reduce worm infection that occurs in the community. Deworming will also lower the chances of hospital admission of kids owing to abdominal pain.
After deworming your puppy, expect that your puppy to poop worms. This is because the deworming medication paralyzes the worms, which then pass from the intestines into the feces. You should expect your dog to experience some diarrhea after deworming.
It can take as little as two hours for the worms to start dying off. However, in most cases, the process starts about 12 hours after administering the dewormer. You may continue to see worms in your pup's poop for about a week. If they had a serious infestation, you may see worms for up to two weeks.
Any worms in your gut will eventually pass out in your poo. You may not notice this. To avoid becoming infected again or infecting others, it's very important during the weeks after starting treatment to wash your hands: after going to the toilet.
You'll likely need to give your doctor a stool sample for a few months to make sure all the worms are gone. It's harder to treat an infection caused by tapeworm cysts. In addition to the medicine that kills the tapeworm, you may need medicine to reduce inflammation or other symptoms, like seizures, that you're having.
Some intestinal worms, like hookworms and whipworms, are so small that you won't see any worms in your dog's stool at all. You may be surprised to still see live worms in your dog's feces after deworming them, but this is normal.

Children can get threadworms again after they've been treated for them if they get the eggs in their mouth. This is why it's important to encourage children to wash their hands regularly.
Take the correct dewormer
When infected with worms, it should be dewormed periodically, for adults and children over 2 years old should be dewormed 2 to 3 times a year, ie every 4 to 6 months.
Deworming medication (figure 1.) kills adult worms but not the eggs. So repeating the dose every six months is vital. Doctors generally prescribe a single dose of albendazole tablets once every six months for children.
Deworming drugs are associated with increases in weight after a single dose.
Mebendazole does not kill the eggs of the worm. This is why you may need to take another dose 2 weeks later to help prevent reinfection. How long does it take to work? The medicine should start to work straight away but it may take several days to kill all the worms.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DEWORM A DOG? It could take as little as two hours for the worm to start dying, and 12 hours after the medication to eradicate all the parasites and worms. Keep in mind that you may still see the worms in your dog for about 1-2 weeks.
Worming treatments will start working pretty much immediately after they've been ingested by your dog. It can take up to a couple of days for the worms to be completely eliminated from their system.
Re-Treatment
COMBANTRIN® is only effective against adult worms, which means any eggs or immature worms inside the body might still linger after the initial treatment. In order to minimise the risk of reinfestation, a follow-up treatment two to four weeks later is strongly recommended if symptoms are still present.
Stomach/abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, or drowsiness may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Remember that this medication has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects.
Pinworm eggs continue to be present (excreted) in the feces of an infected person for up to a week after the treatment, so precautions should be taken to prevent reinfection by washing hands thoroughly, especially under the nails. Bathe daily. Change and wash clothing and bedding frequently.
4. Worms do not have eyes, but they can sense light, especially at their front end. They move away from light, and will become paralyzed if exposed to light for too long (approximately one hour). If a worm's skin dries out, it will die.
After a few weeks, the female pinworms move to the end of the large intestine, and they come out of the body at night to lay their eggs around the anus (where poop comes out). The amount of time that passes from when someone swallows the eggs until the worms lay new eggs is about 1 to 2 months.
Arguably without earthworms in our soils, life could vanish pretty quickly. We would have less food, more pollution, and more flooding. No matter how cute a panda looks, it is Darwin's “lowly” earthworms that are doing dirty, but crucial, work in the soil below.
Official answer. Yes, it is normal to see dead threadworms in the persons bowel motions. Depending on the frequency of bathroom visits this can take up to one week. Symptoms of threadworm infection usually disappear within one week of treatment.
Signs and Symptoms
Parasites can live in the intestines for years without causing symptoms.
The female adult worms leave the anus in the middle of the night while the person is sleeping to deposit her eggs around the skin of the perianal region. The eggs become infectious within a couple of hours after being deposited and can survive for about 2 weeks outside the host. Many people may be asymptomatic.
