Those who wielded the dark side found many abilities of the Force easier to use, with some Force powers. Light-side Jedi could use dark-side abilities, (even as some darksiders used light side powers) but most preferred not to since dark-side abilities had aggressive, destructive, or perversely manipulative tendencies.
The Jedi knew that the dark side is fear, leading to anger, which in turn leads to hatred, and finally leading to suffering—mostly for the one who embraced the dark side. The Jedi conquered their dark side through patience, training and discipline, thereby not giving it power over themselves.
The Force Rewards
A Light Side Jedi can, in fact, use any Dark Side Power without losing any Light Side points.
Dark Jedi, also known as "Fallen" Jedi, were Force-sensitives, frequently former Jedi, who chose to deny the light side of the Force or follow the dark side.
Star Wars Confirms Yoda Turned to the Dark Side - and Almost Became the Most Powerful Sith Lord. With the aid of Count Dooku, Yoda could have potentially destroyed the universe if he had gone to the dark side in Star Wars.
We go for the more simple answer, further considering the details of the question itself. If Anakin didn't go into that chamber as the Jedi confronted Palpatine, then Mace Windu would have defeated Palpatine, killing him.
As powerful as Darth Sidious may have been, it's easy to forget he actually seemed afraid of Master Yoda. As seen in Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine initially thought he could deal with the aged Jedi Master - and then, when Yoda proved able to counter the Sith Lord's Force lightning, he fled.
Arguably, some of the rarest types of Jedi were the so-called Iron Knights. These are members of the Shards species - crystals with a brain of their own. They were Force-sensitive and all trained under the tutelage of Jedi Master Aqinos. The Shards had droid bodies, similar to that of General Grievous.

Yoda was tempted by the dark side on a few occasions throughout his life. If he fell to the Sith ways, he would've been more powerful than Palpatine. If Yoda had turned to the dark side in Star Wars, he would have eclipsed the might of even the strongest Sith Master, Emporer Palpatine.
Whereas those on the light side use the Force for the means of knowledge and defense, the dark side focused on controlling it for their own personal gain. That explains why the Sith are able to master powers like Force lightning and deadly chokeholds.
