Inject your Clexane dose at the same time each day. Injection site: Change injection sites each time to stop your skin from hardening. Missed dose: If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and inject your next dose at the usual time. Otherwise, inject the missed dose as soon as possible.
Clexane stops unwanted blood clots from forming and can stop any blood clots that have already formed from growing bigger. Clexane does NOT break down blood clots that have already formed. Clexane acts as a roadblock, interfering with how the process of blood clotting occurs.
When should I stop the Clexane? The effect of clexane is shorter that warfarin – it needs to stop 24 hours prior to the surgery. Your last dose of Clexane should be on the morning before your day of surgery.
Are there any side effects? Less serious side effects include pain, bruising, bleeding, swelling, itch, or rash at the injection site. Serious side effects include allergic reactions, signs of abnormal bleeding such as prolonged bleeding or bruising easily, nausea, gut pain, or numbness.
Missed or extra doses
If you do not remember until the next day, skip the dose you missed and wait to take your next scheduled dose as normal. Don't take a double dose to make up for the one you missed. If you accidentally take a dose that was higher than recommended, contact your anticoagulant clinic or GP for advice.
Never skip a dose, and never take a double dose. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If you don't remember until the next day, call your doctor for instructions. If this happens when your doctor is not available, skip the missed dose and start again the next day.
Blood thinner treatment for PE is usually advised for at least 3-6 months. Your healthcare provider may advise a longer course depending on why you had the blood clot. Some people at high risk of blood clots may stay on blood thinner indefinitely.

Choosing the site for administration:

Not Without Risks
It can help prevent a heart attack or clot-related stroke by interfering with how the blood clots. But the same properties that make aspirin work as a blood thinner to stop it from clotting may also cause unwanted side effects, including bleeding into the brain or stomach.
It was concluded that caffeine has the capacity to inhibit the metabolism of warfarin and enhance its plasma concentration and hence anticoagulant effects. Thus, patients should be advised to limit the frequent use of caffeine-rich products i.e. tea and coffee during warfarin therapy.
Aside from bleeding-related issues, there are several side effects that have been linked to blood thinners, such as nausea and low counts of cells in your blood. Low blood cell count can cause fatigue, weakness, dizziness and shortness of breath. Be careful mixing medications.
You should not use enoxaparin if you are allergic to enoxaparin, heparin, benzyl alcohol, or pork products, or if you have: active or uncontrolled bleeding; or. if you had decreased platelets in your blood after testing positive for a certain antibody while using enoxaparin within the past 100 days.
If you do not need to discard any medicine from the syringe, do not expel the little air bubble before injecting the medicine. It helps push the medicine into the body so it will not leak out the injection site.
Clexane 40 MG Injection is known to cause severe bleeding. It is not recommended if you have had gastrointestinal bleeding, head injury. It may also be unsafe if you are about to undergo surgery. Any symptoms of blood in the stools, vomiting blood, or blood in the urine should be reported to your doctor immediately.
